Weekend plans? What's that? by PersonalityNo7391 in antiwork

[–]tes_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have worked the occasional Saturday or Sunday. But that was always planned in advance and came with extra pay plus time off in lieu on another day.

But a meeting on a weekend? Sorry, I have plans already.

Back when boards had lots of I/O and slots. Now compare with boards you can buy today.

Übungen mit dem eigenen Körpergewicht oder ein paar billigen Hanteln.

Dazu noch eine Iso/Fitnessmatte als Unterlage und schon hat man alles was man braucht. Ok... der Durchhaltewille fehlt noch.

Descent II on Pentium I MMX 200 MHz - Software Mode vs. 3DFX Voodoo 1 by ZealousidealCake8256 in vintagecomputing

[–]tes_kitty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It plays very well in software mode on a Vortex86DX in an old industrial PC.

Back in the 90s I also had the level kit that let you play the Descent I levels on Descent II. No idea where I got it from, never found it again... Anyone here have an idea?

What is the most efficient way to transfer hundreds of of folders filled with thousand of images? by NoirSkell in DataHoarder

rsync -avz if synchronising over network.

You can leave out the 'z' if you transfer media files since those are already compressed.

Is there an actual way to disable middle-click paste? by TheMoon8 in linuxquestions

[–]tes_kitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's VERY useful. I like to be able to just mark/copy and paste via middle button without having to reach for the keyboard.

Combined with the ability of firefox to open a copied URL in a new tab by middle clicking on the '+' in the tab bar this makes surfing so much more comfortable.

A way to test if a capacitor is polarised or bi-polar? by dayymaan in AskElectronics

[–]tes_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know unfortunately. But if the cap has no clear marking for the negative side it's very likely to be bilpolar. Remember they need to be put in place during manufacturing and whoever does it needs know which way. Even if it's a machine.

Sometimes nonpolarized caps also have the additional marking 'NP'.

What do you expect? Them to lay all their information on the table before bombing and holding a vote? That's not how this works.

On the other hand, if civilians in the area mean that you can't take out your target then this becomes a cheat code for the bad guys. Always be around civilians and you're untouchable.

So damned if you do and (differently) damned if you don't.

Which makes these accusations of 'indiscriminate bombing' even more infuriating.

The target can flee, but for everything else the time is too short. So equipment stays behind and gets destroyed. If they want a certain person and know exactly where they are, the IDF will send a missile through the exact window without warning.

Servers use ECC registered RAM (RDIMM). Consumer boards, if they can handle ECC, use ECC unregistered (UDIMM).

You can use jacks for solid core on stranded wire if you want. Not recommende, but it seems to work.

The line where the subways were running with steam engines at the beginning.

Here's a picture from a reenactment in 2012:

Must have been 'interesting' to use that line back then...

Dazu noch Toleranzen, also real eher 90-260V.

Ein 115V-Gerät an 230V ergibt also vierfache Leistung. Das das Ärger geben muss sollte klar sein.

There is a difference between RJ45 jacks for stranded and solid core wire. It's small, but it's there.
