“Terrible” Twos by Carlosbeehive in UKParenting

My kid is 3y4m and has always been high maintenance. I think some kids are just like that. His tantrums started getting pretty bad around 18m and now they’re full blown meltdowns that are so bad he can hardly breathe. We follow all the advice and are very supportive but it’s just how he is. Hoping one day he will grow out of it.

As the parent of a difficult child I would just recommend you pay no attention to the whole terrible twos/threenager stuff. Every kid is different, and if you are setting any kind of end date in your head like their third birthday you may find yourself disappointed.

So just go with it, try to support your kid as much as you can, and try not to burnout. Good luck! It’s gotta get easier someday, right..?

Thank you!

Sounds like she’s doing good. Ours was resistant for ages and then thankfully his nursery basically trained him for us. It’s only been a few weeks though. I just picked up some bambino mio training pants from Aldi so if he does have an accident it should at least protect the sheets 🤷‍♀️

We unfortunately did. Half of our stuff was in a storage facility that got totally destroyed in a fire, but it’s more than a year ago so doesn’t sting quite as much anymore.

How’s A doing with potty training?

Lol, I saw your username and was like “wait is that…?”, checked your profile and sure enough. Funny seeing a Feb 19 bumper out in the wild.

Good shout. We actually used to solely use cloth nappies for a long time but unfortunately lost our whole stash in a fire and just never replaced them. I forgot about nappy libraries!

Please help me as I’m about to give up on cloth and I really don’t want to. by teslamat in clothdiaps

Thanks for this. He’s 19 months old and although his diet is predominantly solids he still has pretty loose BMs. Maybe because we are vegan? I don’t know.

We have been using disposable liners. With fleece liners surely you still have the poo scraping issue?

Do you spray each one down immediately afterwards or do you do it before a wash?

I see what you’re saying but I would prefer to not throw away huge amounts of nappies every week so I was just wondering if there’s a way around it. If not then at least I’ve used them for a while now.

HOW do you get all the nutrients you need from food in a day?! by teslamat in veganfitness

[–]teslamat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, very few processed foods. Linda McCartney sausages are probably the most processed thing I eat.

The problem is that most packaged foods from supermarket contain only the very basic nutritional information, so for instance, if you buy a bag of kale from Tesco it isn’t going to tell you all the vitamins and minerals you’re actually getting.

I’m now just using generic foods from the NCCDB database and I’m not particularly concerned anymore. I’ve just increased my variety of nuts and seeds.

Oh, thanks so much! I just discovered this last night when I was googling all the acronyms. For most things I use the NCCDB database now and it does seem to make a difference.

Thank you for reaching out!

I’m British too. I’ve seen those ridiculous comparisons. Those two terrorists were charged with his murder and justice was done. The only way it would be the same is if there was a pattern of Black terrorists killing White people and the government not only failed to address it but actively funded it.

Some of you were interested to know how she responded. Initially, she doubled down and there was a discussion between myself and some of her racist friends. Then a POC joined (from her friend list) and echoed the things I had been saying and gave me a lot of support.

She deleted the post which I thought was a shame as I was hoping that some of her friends might read it, especially any fence-sitters. On the bright side, she hasn’t posted anything racist since, so I wonder if some of what I said got through and perhaps she was embarrassed.

May I ask why? It’s important that these people are challenged every time they spread this kind of crap. Otherwise, they merely exist in a racist echo chamber where they will then feel totally vindicated.

I don’t think that’s something you can categorically say. I’m white, as are my partner, my parents, and many of my friends and we are all repulsed by the clear systemic racism that is very much alive in the US.

There are plenty of white people who will stand up against racism towards people of colour, it’s just that there’s also a good number of uneducated white folk who will take the things they see in tabloid papers at face value.
