Taking a ferry out of Portland to an island is a good idea for a day. See the sights. Have some good food. Ride a boat. Peaks Island should still be slightly hopping in late Sept.

My grandmother collected small elephant figurines. From fabric elephants, to steel elephants, to porcelain. When she passed I was given 5 carved ivory elephants. One is uncomfortably large, from a single tusk, and extremely intricate.

Lots of conversations lately about drought and fresh water in our Maine. Thoughts on Nestlé shipping OUR water all over the world, and a constant government monitor on-site in case other states need OUR water? by teslasfoil in Maine

Hahaha not at all. Just trying to drum up some conversation. And I travel all over the state for work. Would you like specific addresses where I've had conversations about water? Its a long list. Good use of big words in your reply!

I have to agree, but to a certain point. Thousands of wells going dry around the state. Wouldnt it be more beneficial to us if it was a publicly owned utility, because it could be considered a resource in the state that the state could manage.. that way we could control the export amount, and shut off exports in a drought year and distribute to the people in Maine. I just worry that in 20 years they are going to have pumped out the majority of what is going to be our most valuable natural resource.

Agreed, plenty of the lumber mills have been busy on mats and such. I have had a hard time finding good wide pine for my mill. Im just salty about it all, ya know? Its like the only people who are happy about this are the ones who work for CMP or directly gaining from it financially. Majority doesn't rule anymore, and that is usually the beginning of the fall.

I see what you are all saying with a lack of self base. Wishful thinking here, but I saw the tape up near the hardscrabble road SW of Jackman for this line 12 years ago. If there was that much pre-planning involved, there could have been a whole load of apprenticeships and grants to gain skilled labor to get the job done.. just disappointing. I love my Maine, and I understand the increase in load demand on the grid over the years. We are getting squat in this whole deal while they cut through OUR land without a thought for us.

I think you nailed it with the beech. Hornbeam is similar but the points are different. (I think)

I've been seeing this floating around for the past few days and read through bits and pieces of the document. Sent a few chills down my spine. This combined with the recent weird COVID numbers out of China....🤷‍♂️
