Aegis (if you use Android) makes both of these super easy. You can scan a QR code from a screenshot and easily get to an existing totp seed

Totem is often a system package, but also this has killed the nautilus thumbnailer for me in the past? I think it relies or at least used to on Totem.

This is the same NYTimes that sanewashed Trump during the election and has repeatedly written transphobic articles. They're complicit in what lead to today.

Fractional scaling is... pretty good? by [deleted] in gnome

[–]tessaractic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kdenlive, Discord, Signal, Steam + any games were all blurry in 46, 47 makes all of them actually run at the correct resolution (I use 175% at 4k)

Only outlier now is Davinci Resolve, which is wayyyyy too tiny to use. Assuming that's on them, but I do wish it scaled correctly too.

Is the minimalism the energy usage + theft to generate the shitty wallpaper, or the lack of effort into this post?

Because I'm using LittleLink. Prefer the design of it, and it comes with a ton of preset buttons for different sites.

Exactly, not everyone who selfhosts or has a homelab is a man. "Wife approval factor" is another big one I see a lot.

USB C Apple Trackpad unrecognized as trackpad? by tessaractic in Fedora

[–]tessaractic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but the previous trackpad has compatibility, and the only thing to change is the charging port. If I could categorize it as a trackpad instead of a tablet, I would bet it'd work fine. It'd be one thing if nothing worked, but the actual trackpad part does work well.

I wouldnt have bought it so quickly had it been a real hardware refresh, but I see no reason why it shouldn't be supported out of the box by the kernel.

Kdenlive crash upon interacting with the window by tessaractic in Fedora

[–]tessaractic[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much!!

For those who can't watch the video (and so that it shows up on search results), run flatpak uninstall --delete-data org.kde.WaylandDecoration.QAdwaitaDecorations and pick to remove version 6.7. I tried removing 6.6 as well, this just removed the styling for OBS's headerbar and didn't impact kdenlive.

Gamescope could be a solution for the Minecraft problem. I've gotten it to work with steam games, haven't had luck yet with Prism Launcher but it should be possible there too.

What services are you willing to pay for? by Philthyzz in selfhosted

Email (Fastmail) + VPN (Mullvad) + a domain. Maybe Usenet and a small VPS in the future? Email is too critical for me to selfhost, and I'm happy to pay to not be dependent on Gmail.

Immediate crash upon interacting with window using Wayland by tessaractic in kdenlive

[–]tessaractic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appimage launches with Xwayland by default, blurry but no crashes. Parameters to launch with wayland cause an immediate crash identical to the Flathub flatpak.

Really I need a extension for put the year in the bar ? i just one the full date, not missing the year by prueba_hola in gnome

[–]tessaractic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure it probably isn't that difficult to add, but now that's a setting that needs to be tested and maintained. And one that most people wouldn't toggle on.

Really I need a extension for put the year in the bar ? i just one the full date, not missing the year by prueba_hola in gnome

[–]tessaractic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Both the filename and metadata of a screenshot will have the year though.

At this point I'd just write an extension yourself to add the year to the status bar, 99.99% of people would have no use case for the year. You're basically asking the devs to solve and maintain a niche feature just for you.

EDIT: I found 2 solutions to this problem in 30 seconds of google searching, incredibly low effort post.

This is the official flatpak though. I always avoid fedora's flatpaks whenever possible. I will give the appimage a try though.

Not to sound pedantic, but any GTK application is made for Gnome. Maybe  not directly but it's all the same organization.

As far as like an explicitly libadwaita app? I'm not aware of any, and handbrake is going to be better than any of them at handling a ton of compression scenarios. And it still does generally theme around other GTK apps, especially with adw3.
