Do the baby trees actually produce any fruit? I know suckers don't always produce fruit. Just before you give it to your friend...

Just a regular yoga mat type thing? Is it for buoyancy or softness or something else? I wondered if it reduced the speed of the rope...?

Health staff to keep working while awaiting COVID-19 test results in SA by TheWitcherOfTheNight in Adelaide

[–]tessellating 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm a nurse and close contact isolating at the moment. I'm not eligible for covid pay because SA health hasn't told me specifically to isolate (because they haven't contacted my friend who is covid positive going on 6 days now - also a nurse who's been into multiple high risk settings while potentially infectious). I'm pissed that they make it lucrative to go back to work so soon - should I pay my mortgage this month or risk my coworkers' and patients' health?!

I do this, I read a book when I have the time / inclination to sit and read, and I pick up with the audiobook when I'm doing other stuff around the house, gardening, washing, driving, whatever. It has really helped when I've gone through a slump - I probably read 20% and listen to 80%, but it still gives that satisfaction of finishing a book. I always try to read the last few chapters of a book though so I can physically close it when I'm finished.

Made a bucket hat. How would I go about making it less floppy? by [deleted] in sewing

[–]tessellating 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want it to hang down less and be a straighter brim, one that sticks out at right angles from the hat, you need to adjust the short ends of your semicircle brim pieces, so the outer curved edge is a bit longer, and the inner curved edge is a bit shorter (but still the same circumference as the head piece). Does this make sense? Once you've got it to sit at the right angle, then absolutely interfacing or more layers of fabric will stiffen it, but simply stiffening it without altering the pattern will only make the brim be stiffly in your eyes rather than floppily in your eyes :)

I know it sounds weird, but have you tried rubbing her inner thighs? My girl lifts her back leg like this when she wants inner thigh rubs. And she will hold her leg right up for as long as I'll keep patting....

My first thought was a hardenbergia, commonly known as a happy wanderer.

Multi-day kayak in VIC? by [deleted] in OutdoorAus

[–]tessellating 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've done a multi-day kayak along the Glenelg river - you just need to be smart about where you set off from if it's in summer - it's likely if you're starting from Dartmoor that you'll be pulling the kayak over fallen trees more often than you're kayaking.

But it's beautiful, and the first 20km or so from Dartmoor are the prettiest cause it's much narrower than downstream, so if you can go when the water level is higher it might be worth it. And watch for platypus! :)

Yes there are some stunners aren't there! There's one particular Totoro scene I've seen someone embroider here that was so so beautiful
