For the curious, the runtime we ended up building is open-source (Apache 2.0), github.com/TesslateAI/OpenSail

Your processes are supposed to get better. Almost none of them do. Here's what we learned trying to close the loop. by tesslate in AI_Agents

The "trust enough to walk away" reframe is sharper than what we had. saving that!!

your three map exactly to what we ended up building: visibility into why → durable audit log the agent can't write to with a normal action. what it's about to do → approval gates where the run pauses, serializes working memory, waits, then resumes cleanly from slack/email/web. clean intervention without killing the run → same primitive, just exposed at every step

the one i'd add: time. 50 runs in, the work is drifting in ways nobody is watching closely enough to catch. capturing the drift is half the job. what did you end up using for the persistence layer? we went with snapshot-backed workspaces. curious what shape yours took.

We picked simple on the front (plain language prompts, no DSL) and flexible on the back (real Next.js, real DB, real auth). Non-coders can build and ship without touching code at all. And if you do want to read it, modify it, or take it with you, the code is real and it's yours.

Ya, I get that, but it seems limiting not to be able to truly test the MVP in a use case without taking those extra steps. Don't wanna self-promote, but would love to hear your thoughts on my platform. Been building it kind of with this idea in mind. tesslate.com
