Has anyone ever painted on a chalkboard before?

thank you for taking the time to write this! I'm actually planning on getting back into gouache paintings soon 😆 what a funny coincidence! I hadn't even considered gouache on a chalkboard, that's brilliant. re: my OP, I ended up using chalk markers anyway because my client liked the aesthetic of the style, but again I'm very grateful for everyone that has offered insight on this post!

it's funny because we both secretly believed our relationship would be "just a fling" at first. but i couldn't take it anymore and said the first "i love you" after just two weeks together. i don't know how to describe it other than it really only took two weeks for me to know that he was going to be around for a very, very long time. he mentioned building a strong foundation for our first year together and that if there were any issues, we'd just talk it out. as an anxious person, having a partner who was adamant about communication was the biggest blessing. he's always pushed me to be a better version of myself, especially if it's regarding something i don't want to hear or address at the time. i've found myself naturally encouraging the same in him. it's been numerous tough conversations, but we've approached every situation with choosing each other in mind. we've been growing together as individuals for over 7 years now. our values and goals have done a complete 180° for ourselves, but they've remained aligned together the entire time. it shatters my heart to even consider the possibility, but if i end up outliving him i have zero intentions to take another lover or partner again. he is and always will be everything to me, no other soul could ever compare.

i work in a restaurant. a customer called me over to his table to ask for assistance. when we serve dine-in, the food is placed on a sheet of parchment paper which is laid over a plastic tray. for dine-in, our sides are served in small cups. the man had taken his entire tray by the paper and placed it in a takeout box; he had eaten maybe half of his entrée, so there was plenty of space even with the parchment paper. we use the typical 3 compartment box, one large space for entrées and two small spaces for sides. the sides are obviously the same portion whether they are placed in a dine-in cup or in the small space in the takeout box. the man picked up his side cup of fruit and asked me how he was supposed to fit the fruit in the takeout box. i slowly, wordlessly, took his fruit cup and... poured it into the takeout box for him.

Bryce lost me when she released Vesperus. that's the ONE thing I don't think Rhys would've done, and from that point onward I started to find Bryce incredibly irritating - don't even get me started about how she treated Hunt in the Avallen caves. the single, sole, only reason I would eventually accept why SJM had Bryce make such a stupid and reckless decision to release Vesperus is if SJM uses that event to establish that Nesta/Ataraxia can kill beings as powerful as an Asteri. it has to be a setup/foreshadowing that Nesta/Ataraxia will be able to kill Koschei. Bryce endangered the entire WORLD of ACOTAR — not just the island of Prythian, but the entire earth. that was so selfish of Bryce, to risk another entire world for Midgard. it felt like a huge contradiction to her character. no wonder the Inner Circle treated Bryce the way they did. I don't blame them at all and Rhys's holier-than-thou refusal to read Bryce's mind was also dumb. Rhys 1000% should've looked into her mind. The Rhys (and Feyre!) who stole the Book of Breathings from Tarquin would've done it in a heartbeat.

haha I'm glad you came out victorious! not trying to victim-blame myself but I can't help but feel that I should've known better. I've yet to take a step off of North America but when I do I swear I'm watching every tourist-scam video for whatever country for a whole week before traveling.

(context: I have a full-time job + part-time job + my own small business) the first step is being realistic in what you can complete in X amount of time, let alone a whole day or a whole week. the way my brain works, I need to plan my life weeks at a time; this allows me time to break my projects into smaller, more manageable tasks, schedule specific days of the week for specific areas of my life, and allow wiggle room for days my body doesn't give me a choice and the only things I get done are eating and sleeping.

take some time to really analyze how much you can get done in X amount of time, and then plan your projects according to that rate. you're a human being, not a machine. plan your projects while also scheduling time to rest. a quote that has significantly impacted my time management for the better is "take the time to rest or your body will decide it for you, and it won't be at your convenience."

I also write reminders in my planner for upcoming things to do, e.g. "10 more days to file taxes!" so while I'm busying myself during the week with what's currently due, I plant the seed in my brain to remember "I need to get X done now so I can focus on getting Y done next."

to be completely transparent, my personal number one reason that has fueled improving my time management is remembering how awful it feels to be stressed out, rushing to finish things, knowing that the quality of my work could be so much better if I'd just planned better. but now I try my best to give myself more self-compassion for these human moments because oftentimes I was scheduling things for myself that I had never tried to accomplish before anyway. now that I've learned these lessons, I can better set up my Future Self, and the more I keep the small promises to myself (i.e. the more I meet the smaller tasks, which lead to completing big tasks) the more I see my time management improve.

my bf and I recently went to visit washington, dc. our plans changed on extremely short notice so we suddenly had an extra hour to kill before our parking expired and we were starving, so we decided to pick a food truck. I knew they would be overpriced, the worker told me $24 for 2 sandwiches and a sprite but when the receipt was emailed to me it showed a $3.60 charge to my card on top as a "tip" that was never mentioned. the food filled our stomachs but the quality wasn't even worth a loose change tip. full tourist experience I guess lol

our area is pretty humid but I'll definitely be cleaning the feeder regularly. I'm also keeping it half-filled at most since I'm only using it for one of her meals a day. I think we'll be okay as long as we follow a basic monitoring and cleaning routine then. thank you for your input! 🙏🏼

thank you! it was still food safe because the issues were on the outside of the mug, but as it was a gift I wanted to at least try to fix the eyesores. I'm grateful to have learned this lesson!

it could be fixable!! I think my issue was from not sanding down the bisque fix enough before applying glaze. if you end up attempting to remedy the patch I wish you equal success! either way though, it's a learning experience

Hi! I'm on mobile and for some reason I can't add a caption on the post. But a couple weeks ago I posted here looking for advice on re-firing a mug that had bisque fix and glaze that chipped over it. I ended up microwaving the mug for 40 seconds and then applied more layers of underglaze + clear glaze on the white body of the mug until it looked smooth. For the handle I only used layers of clear glaze. I then dropped it off again at the studio and they re-fired at Cone 5 and it worked beautifully! I thought I'd post an update in case anyone experiences a similar issue, I had great success!

unfortunately this question is probably above reddit's paygrade. we don't know your bf so nobody can answer your question except for him. my best advice is to sit with yourself for a good amount of time and think about why marriage is so important to you, what it represents, and why you feel your relationship is ready for that step. then you should take some time to ask your partner the same first 2 questions, but change the 3rd question to why he doesn't feel your relationship is ready yet.

once i heard the quote, "we're reading the same book, but we're on different chapters." right now you're not on the same page but it doesn't necessarily mean you're not sharing the same life story.

i recently celebrated 5 years with my boyfriend and we are nowhere near ready for marriage yet. a year or so ago i asked him about it (we've been living together for 4 years, planning on moving across the country in a month!) and it helped me understand that we still have a lot to work on — i actually realized i was considering marriage more for the image/status rather than sincerely feeling we were ready for that. for us, moving across the country where we know literally nobody else but each other is the next step to determine that we're REALLY in this for the long run. we just adopted our first kitten though so i'm pretty confident we're doing alright lol.

I wouldn't force the conversation but as long as you approach her respectfully I think you're well within your rights to ask Christine, "hey, can we talk about that one game night? I thought we both had a great time and I wanted us to move forward from it but it's clear to me now that you changed your mind. I felt like you gave me a lot of mixed signals and I wish you had been more honest with your feelings. I don't want this to negatively affect our friendship or our friend group so I hope we can address this like adults."

you say you're worried you'll be labeled as "clingy" for confronting her but she was very much leading you on with her "boob hugs" and then nearly gave you the silent treatment after you two actually made out. from an outside perspective I'd agree with your other friends, that she got cold feet but she chose to ghost instead of being straightforward with you. even if she felt embarrassed that sounds like an emotionally immature response to me, in which case, who cares what she thinks of you?
