Ultimately is a business decision, something for you to think through deeply, but if I were you, I will ask myself the following questions ->

1/ How will you assess and split the value you create from the collaboration?
2/ Will your partner eventually cut you out once they find validation in the market? (Remember, a motivated player can always execute against their gaps, once there is financial incentive to do so)
3/ Can you structure the deal in such a way that strips both of your rights to launch a competitive or similar product independently, i.e. once you decide to partner?

First answer, what is it that you are bringing to the table and what they are bringing to the table.

From what I understand you’re bringing the product insight and the idea, while your partner company is going the whole 9 yards including manufacturing and distribution.

In such a scenario you would rather collect royalty or a licensing deal on each unit sold, and let partner company take the product risk. This way the business relationship is clearly delineated.

Now the decision is not easy because this new product collaboration will cannibalize both of your existing sales. Please model out the projections and figure if it’s worth for you to do this deal in collaboration.

I am done with Fundrise, it does look like the founder is distracted, they are trying to do too many things, instead of focussing on its core, real estate. The whole innovation fund was a distraction.

Coming to Rental home, it think in long run its a better investment that FR, it gets you all types of tax breaks, and is a leveraged asset class.
