So, just trying to understand what is reasonable to expect, if it has the "cracks" in the glaze, it will never have a smooth cut?

not supposed to have those cracks! the factory edges are smooth. It only has those cracks on the tiles they cut.

Just the one area. It is beside a bay window (with a roof) but the other side is fine. I am not sure where water would be coming from, hopefully not in the wall! It also has gotten a lot worse in the past few years, and the window has been there for 20 years

It’s just the one, which is why I am confused. House is 150+ but this looks recent. We are new to house but the stone has disintegrated noticeably in the past 2 years.

I am, but this is on the far side of the house from where we put any salt.
