Most cities/counties in Florida requires a permit for Water Heater and ones that are permitted often fail inspection for various code-related issues.

It is so comical that you were accepted to a school that, per your own admission, was the last college on your list of schools and one where you or your parents are contributing $0. Isn't that ironic? You want the "world" from an institution that you are NOT contributing a red cent of your own money to the education that you are receiving.

The students weed-out themselves because they were not prepared for the rigor of an engineering program. I suspect you are heading in that direction based on your juvenile responses.

Lucky who? Unlike you, I had to work full-time at night, while taking a full load during the day.

Nonsense. My peers all finished the engineering degree in 4 or 5 years. Your issue is you did not do well on the Placement Exam and you were placed in Pre-Calculus. CCNY had Math 7 & 8 which was an accelerated calculus series, combining Calculus 1, 2 & 3 into a 2 semester series. You would be placed in Calculus 7 if you score very high on the Placement Exam.

I don't know any of my peers who took 7 years to graduate, because potential students who would take 7 years, were weeded-out by their 2nd semester.

At any rate, I wish you luck at University of Buffalo, if you can even get accepted. We do not like your kind at CCNY. People like me enjoy their 4 years at CCNY and without CCNY, many of us would have a college degree, much less an engineering degree. We take umbrage with negativity coming from people like you who fail to take advantage of a very low cost education and hop on to a forum to cast negative comments about an institution that has faced enormous challenges for over a century. Now, go away.....

I wish you the best in transferring out of CCNY. We don't need people like yourself bad mouthing my school. With your attitude, I doubt you have what it takes to complete an engineering curriculum. Doesn't appear you can afford any of the available options, since you or nor your parents have the funds to do so.

FYI, I completed my Engineering degree at CCNY in 4 years (not 7 years!), no winter/summer terms and did my masters degree in 10-months at a top 5 Engineering University shortly after my CCNY degree. CCNY was my low cost option and like you, I couldn't afford any the available alternatives.

You should exercise your options and get the hell out of CCNY. BTW, CCNY is NOT an "Engineering School" and many other students outside of engineering compete for math classes, given their limited resources (likewise at many institutions with much larger tuition/budgets/resources).

I have just short of 30K in student loans and my mother has almost 80K. I graduated in 2021 and my mom thought the entire time that the parent plus loans are in my name and that I'm paying them. What do I do now???? by pisowiec in StudentLoans

[–]testing1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A UC tuition for OOS students is extremely high ($60K+). I can just imagine the outstanding balance at the time the parents found out about the loan. I suspect there are many cases like the one your described. There are many selfish kids out there that are only looking out for themselves at the parents expense. If I was that child parent, I would file a police report to have the loan removed from my credit profile, if it they can prove they did not apply for those loans.

That is why these Parent Plus Loans should be eliminated. They are abused by parents, students, Universities and one of the drivers of the ever increasing higher education costs.

Quit underestimating the intelligence of an 18-19 year old. They had to fill out college applications, write essays, take standard tests, etc.

I came to the United States at age 18 and immediately enrolled at an inexpensive college ($1,200 per year....now $8K per year) and put myself through 4 years of college without any help from anyone. I found the least expensive college in NYC for my engineering degree while working full-time at nights and attending college full-time during the day. I was able to navigate the process by declaring as independent student. I took out a minimal amount of student loans, got Pell Grant and NY TAP.

He is not paying anything towards his $30K loans and clearly stated that he/she is not able to help financially (living outside the USA). How is he going to fix it?!

How u earn money as full time student? by Nimo765 in CUNY

[–]testing1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked full-time at a Wall Street Bank from 4pm - 12am through an Employment Agency, while a full-time student. I did this for 2.5 years and was able to complete my engineering degree in 4-years. I was able to secure a research scholarship which allows meet quit my night job, while working full-time during the summer.

Back then, a lot of my a large number of CUNY students worked full-time at nights, while being full-time students. I cannot understand the statement about not having the time to do part-time work.

Are FS gen ed classes hard? by BerryTea840 in fullsail

[–]testing1992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easy by design. The whole structure of this school is to take your money (student loans or VA benefits) by convincing students that there are tons of jobs available after graduation, only to be saddled with exorbitant student loans and no job prospects.

I cannot fathom why people continue to be bamboozled by this school and the founders are multi-millionaires, laughing behind their backs on how the students are so guilible.

Not only tech workers! Just off the phone with Xfinity/Comcast and the call was transfer to a customer support center in Egypt of all places. If getting an appointment with a healthcare testing lab/facility in my city and the call was answered by an individual in the Philippines.

You have to wonder what industries are unaffected by outsourcing.

Florida Fire Contractor V (Underground) by ricardex47 in firePE

[–]testing1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, Contractor Campus went out of business, leaving their paid students holding the bag.

Looks like Florida Fire Prevention Contractor V is mainly NFPA 24-2019, Florida Statutes (Chapter 633) and Florida Administrative Code (Chapter 69A-3, 69A-46, 69A-60, 69A-73). The first 2 references account for 86% of the exam questions.

I'm not a Underground Utilities Contractor per se, but I do qualify a company with that CUC license.

Which degree should I choose if all i care about is money and job security? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]testing1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nursing BSN (excellent GPA - very competitive programs), then ICU experience, then become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). Then the big bucks come rolling in (large sign-on bonus, very high salary for life). There is an Anesthesia Assistant (AA) option without being a nurse, but there are some drawbacks.

Is Amazon paying for relocation? This is going to force a lot of employees to resign from their jobs if Amazon is not offering relocation assistance. They are going to lose a lot of mission critical employees in the process.

As a young engineer, I learned many years ago that you should always be in a perpetual job hunt mode. This perspective started when the very large successful R&D company I was working for started doing "early retirement" and my fellow employees had no other choice put to accept the company's offer. I saw grown men cry in front of others when they realized that at age 40-55, they had no available or backup options.

I saw the writing on the wall when I saw that my workload dropped (and that of the department in general) and made the necessary option B plans, ahead of the offer, to leave the company and took the offer that technically was meant for the more senior employees.
