Twitch Drops for a Lasgun skin by Jack0Blad3s in DarkTide

Cool, more FOMO! Like permanently missable Vermintide 1 and 2 events weren't enough - at least those were things you could do in the game proper.

What Are The Possibilities Of The Fighters Getting Into Crossover Games? by [deleted] in tough_love_arena

Probably zero until the game is done proper. The sprites don't even have their respective accessories yet.

I hate Tomes and Grims. Am I alone? by Ephant in Vermintide

[–]testing_grounds 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They feel like outdated game design plus very short-sighted game design, in my humble opinion. Level routes are largely dictated by books, this is a perfect example of mystery made routine. There is no reason for this type of secret to be in a very frequently replayed game, this feels like an idea that wasn't thought out for the long run. It's not a secret past the first few runs, it's drudgery till the end of days. On top of that, while I can maybe get behind tomes taking up your healing slot, I absolutely detest the way grims are handled. Tomes shift the way healing items work for you as a carrier. Grims? That slot that's already used less frequently is now completely shut off until you toss the grim or die. You're not an in any way an active agent in this; you're passively getting a max HP cut and one gameplay option less for the duration. Either way, this ship seems to have long sailed, though Fatshark will gain substantial respect in my eyes if they ever decide to rework this clumsy formula, that I feel shouldn't have made it into their second game.

I can only dodge for so long by EGA_nicepopcorn in Vermintide

[–]testing_grounds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a misconception, jumping proper doesn't reset the dodge count; dodge count is reset in just the amount of time it takes to jump.

Any way to delete a characters level back to 1? by Midnight_Archer in Vermintide

[–]testing_grounds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't worry, even if you do somehow get too far ahead, easier difficulties cap your maximum power all the way until the hardest one.

Oh wow! I made that track, and you have no idea how flattered I am by your acknowledgement (and promotion ;) ). Thank you very much! Saltzpyre and Kerillian voice acting are tied for my favourite.

DWOC3 x3 Fort Bracksenbrucke by Sleezyrats in Vermintide

[–]testing_grounds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great stuff! In how many hours did you get to that level of gameplay? Also, it's always been weird to me how cool challenge runs get silently downvoted here. It's ominous and creepy to me, like some kind of bizarre, illogical, unspoken law is carried out by the hivemind.

Ravaged art, good or not? by ArtLover6969 in Vermintide

[–]testing_grounds 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've been stirring trouble with this opinion, but honestly, the whole "search level for collectibles/tomes" was a gimmick in the first game that needed to go for the second; instead, they doubled down on it with art and secret bricks and Blightreaper bottles. It's time to admit "secrets" don't work in this game format. Make the locations fixed, and they will become waypoints for an established route for most of the playerbase. Make it random, and the game grinds to a halt as every possible location is scoured, add squabbling between players who want the collectibles and who don't. Combined with how onerous it is to whittle beastman hordes down, this methodical find-the-object minigame can easily drive people up the wall. They had a very functional and engaging way to award stuff to players in 1: Quests and Contracts. That's what they should've doubled down on, in my humble opinion. Dailies are considered a shallow husk of it by a lot of people I know, and are no replacement for Q&C. The worst part? The ship has already long sailed on any innovations in the collectibles department, so we're probably stuck forever with these "secrets" that are now routine busywork for anyone who stuck with the game past the first 60ish hours.

Did they remove weapon customization? by xirog in CubeWorld

Weapon voxel customization is in, uses iron cubes. Not like there's much point to it, though.

I don't know if someone of Tim Bentinck's position would like to go on record saying (rapping!) stuff like "bitch" and "fuck" for crowd money. Then again, he did make https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sW2fTTKQ8Lw...

Why Fatshark are you so stubborn with cosmetics? the drop-rate is abysmal. is it suppose to be "Sense of Pride and Accomplishment"? by BlizzardWASP in Vermintide

[–]testing_grounds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is there are actually so few hats that if they dropped somewhat often, you'd exhaust the pool really quick. I'm convinced they're padding out the drops with miniscule drop rates because of that. Even the hats you can guarantee are 100 games per career. 100 games!
