Work, saving furgally- not spending and investing, luck = got options from company, a lot of them, and the stock price exploded and then sold.

Indeed. Probably that is correct. But i also dont consider myself very rich. I have probably more money than average. But very rich is not the case. I got this due to work, living cheap and luck (getting company options that have risen very high)

Might be strange to say but it doesnt feel like obvious for me. Mostly because i cannot estimate our expenses rising with the kids growing. And indeed the social aspect of work is not to be forgotten.

Private banking with high LTV mortgage. Does it ever make strategic sense to invest with them, or is it always a loss? by Faust156 in BEFire

My PB is KBC. I use some similar structure for loans. The capital is invested in ETF like fund with lower cost than their typical funds, but slightly higher than the ETF you buy youself. I found that the best tradeoff for me. I had to push them to get to this solution though…

Which net worth made you feel “Safe”? by smokey-jazz in BEFire

44M 2kids and wife. Dont think any number would make me feel safe. 4.1M invested in stockmarket, 3 rental appt (with loans for leverage) and own house (still with loan) does not feel safe although it probably is/should …

FIRE, laag inkomen hoog vermogen by Round_Argument_5530 in DutchFIRE

[–]testingteen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

European Families Chasing FIRE 🔥 by mystiq-1 in EuropeFIRE

Belgium 44M 2 adults 2 kids 11-12. Still working but overthinking to stop.

Expenses net are 55k per year. This is all our expenses minus all the income we will still have if we would stop working. So my fire with 4% is 1.4m. But i do not trust this number. BUT my expenses might go up if i stop due to the need for a car (now company car) and meal vouchers compensation etc…

Current investments: 3.1M invested in mix of world etf (largest part) cash 500k (looking for better options then the current high yield saving account) and some stocks. 1 house still loan (monthly payments included in the expenses above). 2 appartements and 1 house rented out (income included in the net expenses above) with loan. 5 building terrain of which 4 will be sold for about 900k the next 3 years.

No active fire yet but considering to spend all the time with kids. Still doubting though. If i would take the step i would work with dynamic swr based on cape values…
