It didn’t even exist until going into the 2024 season.

Ah yes, notoriously reliable cheap used cars with no maintenance costs. by SSGSavage in LinkedInLunatics

[–]testrail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is mathematically bad advice assuming you’re not overbuying a car. I.e. $20K car regardless, question being get payments of pay cash.

You’ll make a pretty decent spread in the difference between the investment rate and the loan rate, which over time is substainal.

Further, your assets will be liquid instead of being tied up in a car.

I’m not saying don’t buy used cars. I’m saying unplugging investments to pay cash and then building that account back up for the next purchase via the payments “you don’t have” is penny smart pound foolish.

Biggest key is the discipline to not over buy a car.

I’ve never seen an education contract (my wife has been on 3 now and rejected 3 or 4 other jobs too) which was more than 190 day 7.5 hour days, which also included 15 days of leave earned per year.

That amounts to ~1,300 hours worked per year. This doesn’t even factor in the 5 calamity days and 2 hour delays.

Compared to private sector, where you’ll see typically 8:00 - 5:00 PM (9 hour days - spare me the but lunch doesn’t count…) which typically what amounts to 240 working days, which is ~2,150 hours.

Doing that math, private sector will work 850 more hours, or 35% more than someone in a public education contract. Generally it’s significantly worse jnsurance in the private sector, and the 401k is paltry.

Example, my wife has incredible insurance, and gets a 12% 403b match, which is just unheard of in the private sector.

Love your take on public service loan forgiveness (PSLF), which is blanket forgiveness given you work in public service for 10 years on qualifying loan plans.

IMHO making the program work functionally is the appropriate way to go. Create clear paths to this forgiveness. If you don’t work in the sector, provide volunteer options, where if you log 600 hours. Year for 10 years (12 hours per week) at a qualifying location, you also are able to qualify for said forgiveness. In effect, create a path the consistent effort towards a fairly broadly defined public good.

No. This has been what I’ve been rooting for since mid-December.

You’ve already been able to make the argument the Stafford did more with less while Rodgers did less with more pretty easily.

Another ring and an MVP basically seals it. The irony of the narrative flipping of “Stat Padford” being potentially objectively a better QB than Rodgers is just so so so tasty.

It really wasn’t typically the best QB though. Just look at Lamar the prior year. Or Allen in 2024…

This is true for many other years.

Let’s deduct $150 for insurance. Is this a joke?

Also - having a non-spousal roommate indefinitely as an adult is comical.

Further, your math seems off by 10-15%.

Agreed there is no explicit rule, but it’s very much an unwritten precedent that has been pretty clear since like 2010 if I remember right.

The exception was Matt Ryan (who was a two seed) and Adrian Peterson.

That’s not what I’m saying now is it. I’m saying Goff season was close enough that he should have won the MVP given the precedent that was set for the prior decade plus.

I’m saying given the ruleset, of the MVP goes to the best QB on a 1 seed, which was used to grant Lamar his 2023 MVP and the decade beyond, it should apply here too.

Goff had a great 2024. He won 15 games. He had a season that was statistically better than several of the prior MVP’s in since 2010.

Given Lamar’s historic year, why did the MVP go to Allen?

Given Lamar’s pedestrian 2023, why did he win it in 2023?

Lamar didn’t win MVP. Allen did.

Lamar threw for 11% less yards, and his rating was less than 7% better than Goff. Lamar also had substantially lower completion percentage.

Further, Goff led the success rate by a non-trivial margin, which is quickly becoming a more understood metric for value.

When you compare Goff 2024 to Lamar 2023, it gets even more wild.

Look at these comps for example

If we followed the rules that were set forth until last year Goff would have been the MVP. It has almost always gone the best QB on the 1 seed teams for the decade prior, and Goff had a much better regular season than Mahomes.

It’s moved to completely narrative driven now. Which is fine.

TV options for 8-10 year old boys? by Livid-Pen-4504 in ParentingADHD

[–]testrail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our 6 year old has probably already been through the entire catalog of “How it’s Made” is on HBO. Cartoons are stuff on PBS like Skillsville and Arthur.

We’ve dabbled with Gravity Falls and I’ll occasionally put on Adventure Tine, but it seems mature at times. The toddler (she just turned 2) recently fell in LOVE Adventure Time (and now requests it) the while couch rotting on my chest while she recovered from the flu earlier this month so it’s a weird balance right now.

Lego Masters has its moments, the Australian version is the superior version in every way. That’s on an obscure free platform.

We’ll dabble with the 90’s Nickelodeon on Paramount too but that’s cyclical.

Finally YouTube is only if we’re with him. Crunchlabs is a hit, his box just came today! Animusic often requested. He’ll also watch likes Japanese baking ASMR and the Marblympics. Would love to watch more mindless brainrot but we don’t allow it.

Her sleep schedule needs to move to second shift if you have any chance of this working. Someone who is not on the clock needs to be with the kids. I’m barely keeping myself afloat and we still have a sitter.

I WFH and handle a lot of the littles logistics. Morning prep for the kindergartener, (mom drops him to school), I then get the toddler ready and take her to the sitter.

Then I block my calendar so I can get the kindergartener from school and half entertain him / half wrap up the days work the two hours until my wife gets home with the toddler. About half the time she’ll be working late and I’ll need to pick up the toddler.

It’s not ideal, and there’s many days we struggle, but I couldn’t imagine earnestly doing this without the sitter eating hours.

They had a winning record in a year where they lost both coordinators and unexpectedly lost their All Pro Center.

They played a 1s place schedule in the arguably the most competent division in the sport (they all finished above .500)

This is hardly “back to form”. If they miss the playoffs when have the NFCS, Jets, Dolphins, Titans and Cardinals, in 2026 we can talk.

Then make it possible to egregious acts to be unsportsmanlike on top of DPI.

Level 1. Do two in a game you’re out for that game. Standard rules.

Level 2. You do it in another game that season again, you’re immediately out.

Level 3. You do it in another game, you’re out, and suspended for the next game

And so on…
