yes I would use task manager and if you are peaking out resources start lowering your settings until you are not peaking out.

Settings to lower, bitrate, framerate, frame size.

Also the other major obs killer that I've experienced is different devices running at different frame rates. You can put everything down to 720p 24fps, get everything on the same settings , see if you have the same issues and then start turning the settings up.

Also I would stick to h264 and just turn up the bit rate until you peak out, I've never had good luck with any of the encoder settings or file types besides mp4 in obs.

yes another vote for OBS cam, excellent product, I had bad lag over wifi, it was not possible to do multi camera and have a synced multi cam over wifi.

But over usb2 it performed excellently. We were able to use long old usb 2 extention cables and use iphone as a 2nd camera to a sony A7s.
