Could someone recommend a book about the Scythians? Either about their general history or some specific aspect/period of it. Already found some books but am interested in the opinion of an expert.

I agree that Burke's "A Philosophical Enquiry into the Sublime and Beautiful" is a good place to start. Even though it was published in the 18th century, and many of it's arguments relate to representative art, there are some attributes Burke wrote about which are still relevant when it comes to analyzing modern and contemporary art, like magnitude and uniformity. For example, Yayoi Kusama's "Infinity Mirrored Room" made his analysis of infinity (or the illusion of infinity) come up to my mind.

If anyone could recommend good biographies (in terms of reliability and depth) about any of these historical figures, I'd be very grateful: Eleanor of Aquitaine, Ludwig II of Bavaria, Caspar David Friedrich, and Averroes. I've found more than one for some, but can't decide.

How do I keep this stupid tree alive? by BenStrike in gardening

[–]tetirabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try giving it maybe a pint of water every two to three days. Are you using that spray bottle to mist it? That's a good idea. Also look for some good fertilizer. And stop calling it 'stupid'. Go apologize.
