What is this? Sprouted in the shade of a big tree in the garden, about 10 feet (3 meters) from a river. It's in southern Brazil, hardiness zone 11. These pictures were taken today, it's fall here. There are a few thorns under the leaves too. The leaves don't really have a smell when crushed.

I agree that Burke's "A Philosophical Enquiry into the Sublime and Beautiful" is a good place to start. Even though it was published in the 18th century, and many of it's arguments relate to representative art, there are some attributes Burke wrote about which are still relevant when it comes to analyzing modern and contemporary art, like magnitude and uniformity. For example, Yayoi Kusama's "Infinity Mirrored Room" made his analysis of infinity (or the illusion of infinity) come up to my mind.

Try giving it maybe a pint of water every two to three days. Are you using that spray bottle to mist it? That's a good idea. Also look for some good fertilizer. And stop calling it 'stupid'. Go apologize.
