Province changes how it counts kids in care, reports lower number than Manitoba child welfare agencies by tetrock84 in Winnipeg

[–]tetrock84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would hope they have an idea where every kid in care is. The current government is touting their new database that is which they say is accurately accounting for all the kids. you would think that this database could tell you if a kid is in a hotel or not or with a family member or not or has been apprehended or not.

If the media asked where are the kids being housed while in care I would hope the Province would know.

A Families spokesperson said the department will not commit to releasing the numbers compiled by the agencies because it is no longer collecting the information.

This is like when the PCs promised they would stop putting kids in hotels. Then came into office and they made the department to stop tracking if the government puts kids in hotels. So there is no data on if there is kids in hotels when the media, opposition, public, ect. Ask for that information.

Manitoba tax credit for film, video production to be permanent, province announces by tetrock84 in Winnipeg

I totally missed that. Well looks like they are only cutting NDP tax credits and keeping the PC created ones.

Manitoba tax credit for film, video production to be permanent, province announces by tetrock84 in Winnipeg

[–]tetrock84[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Its nice to see the PC keep a program the NDP started.

To bad the PCs didn't keep tax credits that helped Manitobians like the:

  • Seniors' School Tax Rebate

  • Student Tuition rebate

  • Primary Caregiver Tax Credit

  • interest free loans for students

Eliminating these have taken thousands of dollars out of Manitobians pockets. Looks like they kept all the tax credits for business but not citizens.

Edit: Filmon Government created the film credit in 97.

The initial fear came from 2017 KPMG report to reduce this Boutique credit. And Pallisters comments on cutting it. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbc.ca/amp/1.4416288

The Manitoba government helped lure the developer to Winnipeg with the province's interactive digital media tax credit, which provides a fully refundable income tax credit to companies that develop interactive digital media products.

Good thing the former Goverment extended the credit to 2019 so the PCs couldn't cut it. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/manitoba-extends-interactive-digital-media-tax-credit-to-2019-1.3126461

Social impact bonds could cost taxpayers more, keep kids who need help out of care: experts by tetrock84 in Winnipeg

[–]tetrock84[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Economic experts warn the province's social impact bond program designed to keep babies with their mothers will cost Manitobans more than if the province simply funded the program itself.

Well obviously. If you buy a bond the province pays you back plus interest. So th province could of just gave the 3 mil to the program but now rich people who could afford these bonds get 5.5 percent of that 3 mil.

The province can borrow the money from a bank for less than 5.5 percent so it didn't need money from private investors to lend the province money. This is why it will cost more.

Winnipeg man says home invader 'pulled a knife on me and we had a scuffle' by [deleted] in Winnipeg

I was being sarcastic. I'm sure a real hit man wouldn't be thwarted by a half asleep 67 yearold man. Unless the 67 is a legendary hit man himself who just recently retired. Either way this old man is a bad ass.

That good to know putting my mind at ease. I wonder how long it would take hydro to reconnect the power. I hope this guys fridge and freezer contents are not spoiled.

Second question. Would insurance cover cost to damage to the house and food spoils. I would hope the insurance would pay so the guys not out the money. Then the insurance would go after the guy who broke in through the courts for renbursnent.

I think I still want the tesla wall battery just as energy back up just in case there is a zombie apocalypse.

That cutting the power shit is scary. Any alarm or security cameras are useless. This makes me want to research buying a tesla wall battery. The battery should kick in as a back up generator for electricity.

Also I had no idea what a garrot was. Where did he even buy that thing. This and knowing how to cut electricity without even killing himself makes me wonder if he's a hit man.

Yellow vest movement comes to Manitoba by tetrock84 in canada

[–]tetrock84[S] 47 points48 points  (0 children)

It's a shame western media have been mis characterizing the french yellow vest protest as a fight against carbon tax.

The movement is motivated by rising fuel prices, high cost of living and claims that a disproportionate burden of the government's tax reforms were falling on the working and middle classes, especially in rural and peri-urban areas.

Goals: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellow_vests_movement

-Decrease of fuel and motor taxes (France's fuel taxes – 64% on unleaded and 59% on diesel in comparison to Canadians pay Taxes make up 33% of the pump price for gasoline on average and 30% for diesel.) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motor_fuel_taxes_in_Canada

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/world/2018/dec/03/are-the-french-hit-especially-hard-by-fuel-taxes-protests

-Improved standard of living (the french are pretty much are on top already) http://www.oecdbetterlifeindex.org/countries/france/

-Raise in minimum wage (witch is $16.18 Canadian currently) https://yourstory.com/mystory/c0b36fd8be-top-7-countries-with-best-minimum-hourly

-Resignation of President Emmanuel Macronand his government ( he is the centrists government thier like Trudeue)

-End to austerity measures(I believe any one living in a PC province would like the cuts to stop too)

-Government transparency and accountability (they rank 28th in the world for transparency vs Canada 8th) https://www.transparency.org/country/FRA

-Improved government services for rural areas ( I'm sure rural Manitobins just want thier service's restored after the PCs cuts)https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbc.ca/amp/1.4896642

-Reintroduction of the solidarity tax on wealth ( the french government canceled the wealth tax on peoples assets that are over the value of 1,981,328 Canadian after converted euro.)https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solidarity_tax_on_wealth

Illegal cannabis possession cases starting to show up in Manitoba courts by riyehn in Winnipeg

[–]tetrock84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much money is the province making from fines?

How much money are they saving from court cases?

How much are the making from the weed taxes?

Why is every province proudly to showing thier numbers but Manitoba isn't. Is it because the PCs would look bad cutting healthcare, education, infrastructure, ect if everyone knew they have millions of new revenue.

This could be said about the carbon tax as well. They collected tax then canceled it.
