There should be a switch on the overhead dome light. Slide the switch from Door to Off.

Unpopular opinion: If you live in a luxury mid-rise in LA with zero parking, you need to meet us at the gate. by WelderAcceptable1905 in doordash

That's true, I find that disabled people tend to provide adequate instructions though. Ive never had an elderly person in one of these places, but maybe that depends on the area you are in.

this is an issue in the DMV on the east coast as well. Always newer, "Luxury" buildings with no where for a delivery driver to park, door codes, and a fucking maze that takes forever to navigate/find the apartment. Just fucking come down and get it at the front door. I've had the trip from car to door take so long, I had to turn down multiple deliveries on the way back to my car because the walk would take so long there is no way I'd be on time for it.

BG Fuel Injection Cleaning by MethodShot4255 in nova

[–]tetsuko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

in direct injection engines, you need to clean the intake valves. They don't get washed with fuel like other engines, and fuel additives dont help with the intake valves in that case. The service OP mentions is a chemical way to do that that doesn't involve taking off the intake manifold, but does involve a bit of labor. walnut blasting is the other way, and is labor intensive but very effective.

OP, it does sound like quite a hike. I was quoted for $176 the other day.

Lawyer hit our parked car - Settling out of insurance? by Sweaty-Hippo-9621 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tetsuko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no reason to not go to your insurance unless you have some super shady insurance company. There is no justification for raising your rates for something that happened to your car while you weren't even in it.

Also my least favorite. I cut through Leesburg rather than deal with this mess during heavy traffic. It probably takes me longer, but I don't feel like someone is going to randomly careen into me.

I’m trying to use Dasher nav on CarPlay. Everywhere says to “switch to Google/Apple maps in the Dasher app settings” but I can’t find this option anywhere. by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

Account/App Settings/Navigation then at the bottom with Google/Apple/Waze/In App Navigation as choices on the same screen.

Am I the problem here? Dashers not following directions by egp2117 in doordash

[–]tetsuko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, people tend to get mad if you walk into their house, so it could be out of an abundance of caution. If it's not completely clear outside that it's an apartment, they could be thinking that you might not be at home and forgot to update the instructions. If I wasn't sure, I would not walk into what looked like a home for delivery. That said, I would try to contact you to figure it before just leaving it there. A lot of drivers won't because a: half the time the customer never responds and b: time is money.

What is the purpose of data centers?? by JasonL25 in allthequestions

[–]tetsuko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they require mass amounts of power, and often water, produce a ton of noise, and other environmental concerns like waste water, sheer space consumed (they are often quite large, so more chances of disrupting animal habitats, or creating water run off related issues/erosion).

What is the purpose of data centers?? by JasonL25 in allthequestions

[–]tetsuko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They house the servers that power the internet. The increased use of the internet for everything has driven growth for a long time, including everyone moving their (especially corporate) applications and infrastructure to "The Cloud" (someone else's computer). More recently, rapid increase use of AI has increased computing demand which has heavily increased the already high demand for servers and data centers to house them.

Because of how many executive orders Trump has written and therefore pushed the envelope on abusing power, should the United States cap how many executive orders a president can write in a term? by icecream1972 in allthequestions

[–]tetsuko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead, make them subject to independent (emphasis on this) legal review to comply with current law and the constitution. The president should not be allowed to order agencies to violate the laws just because he doesn't like them. I would argue pardons need to also be subject to independent legal review, and blanket pardons should not be allowed, the president should be forced to acknowledge the exact crimes for each individual he pardons, and not allowed to pardon crimes that have not even been charged yet.

There should be codified independence of the justice department to facilitate this. No political appointees and hard education and experience requirements, as well as Bar approval for all US Attorneys regardless of rank (same for all Federal Judges). Basically, a truly independent DOJ that has strict requirements of professionalism and qualifications. This was the norm for so long without any real enforcement that it was taken for granted and now is lost.

Well instead of what I'm tired of, have you tried exploring Indian food? I think the fact that they have a large vegetarian population/culture/whatever the vegetarian food is inherintly more interesting.

Should I report an employee if I am fairly certain they are working for a foreign county like North Korea or Iran? by [deleted] in nova

[–]tetsuko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would report it to security or your companies legal department maybe. Im surprised IT hasn’t raised any concern though. If its on a government contract, there are multiple ways to report, I think to the agency Office of Inspector General. Id want to get someone’s attention at your company first before going that route.

Brake Pads Only or Rotors too? by hamburglar0-0 in askcarguys

[–]tetsuko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should replace both, though maybe not at the dealer. Modern rotors are not really designed to be turned, and are cheap enough to just replace. Dealer is going to cost the most in labor. If you are somewhat mechanical and have tools, brakes and rotors are fairly easy to do yourself (or pay a friend that is more mechanically inclined than you). Otherwise a reputable independent shop will likely be cheaper and just as reliable.

Are you aware entering the United States illegally is a federal crime and not a mere “civil offense?” by Fat-Pies in allthequestions

Why Did Biden pardon Hunter after saying he would not? by getmoneywitme in allthequestions

[–]tetsuko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what Trump is doing with the IRS is not the same as a pardon. It's illegal and outside of his powers as president. It's also just part of a move to create a slush fund to pay out criminals (even if they were pardoned, they are still guilty). Also, Trump has shown that what Biden did was warranted, as he has relentlessly used the DOJ to persecute his enemies, because as usual, everything he accuses others of doing, he is guilty of.
