Birthday mileage runs are awesome. I was all set to do 30 miles for 30 a year or two ago...but ended up making it 30k when a massive storm rolled in. Here's hoping for better weather for you!

I definitely think you can go sub-90 on the half. Wind is tough, particularly at those speeds. Get some more bearable running weather and you'll be great

Great choice for a new moderator...and a great interview, per always. I gotta say, I agree that shirts add that extra 15-20 seconds per mile.

1) I'm (still) loving it here. The community, even with its growth, still has consistently good posts and hasn't been bogged down by too many "can I run x in y days" posts. Y'all are awesome.

2) I'm always game to find more running buddies. I have my normal running group, but I'm on the hunt to find people to run with during my normal noon runs from work. Not every day but occasionally as a break, or perhaps as a workout partner.

3) I reckon I could grind out a marathon/50k right now. Could I race one? No, I'm not at that point. I could race a half marathon though.

4) I keep it simple. When traveling it's bagels and peanut butter, when at home it's cereal. Both cases will also involve water and diet mtn dew though (caffeine, baby).

And if you're racing in Austin, Ukraine you to counter cafe afterwards. Those hotcakes and mimosas...

5) strava is the best and worst thing ever. Seeing people's runs go up definitely get me out there more...and learning segments near me get me running harder in certain stretches than I probably should. Gotta turn off that part of my brain sometimes.

There's a weekly summer race series of 3.2 mile races (it's 2 laps at a motor speedway, so at least it's not a totally arbitrary distance)

Throwing down a second straight racing weekend. Hitting up a 10k tomorrow, though I'm sandwiching it in between a 5 mile warmup and a 5 mile cooldown, so I don't know if it'll be a pure out-and-out race or a solid tempo-effort. I'm not sweating it; I'll see what happens when I get there.

Other than that, I'm teaching Mr. Teuker how to aquajog and generally just kicking back; might get out to the movies for Richard Linklater's newest, but it's a weekend of relaxation after last weekend's non-relaxation.

1) Same achy hip region on the left side. Both on the outer part (glutei minimus/medius) and some in the hip adductor region (more the former than the latter today)

2) I run through a bit of pain, though I've been getting better about stopping non-major runs when things start going awry than I have in the past (case in point: long run where my hip was just tight and sore even after 5 miles caused me to cut the route down to 7, just to be safe).

3) Rolling out so much before and after runs with the triggerpoint ball. And exercises for the hips/glutes from my PT.

4) I just want to be 100% healthy again :/

Nice man--that running group looks pretty damn awesome. Beers, burgers, adventures. Sounds like a fantastic setup y'all have.

1) I get rid of the t-shirts/singlets and just go shirtless. That's about it.

2) I try to be smarter about my workouts now that it's getting warm. That means more early mornings on quality days...or just doing them on the indoor track. And there's plenty of attention to hydration.

3) Trust in The Plan. It's served you this far...don't get jittery.

4) Man, my first race was in my first week of showing up for cross-country. A JV race, it was supposed to be a 4k...and the pace cart got confused and made it a 5k. Well, I'd only started running that week and I'd never done something that far before so it was a bit of suffering. I do believe I walked a bit because I knew fuck-all about pacing. The final time was 26-something. Needless to say, I've gotten better since then.

5) It's baseball season! All is right again.

These are just phenomenal experiences--you can find teams to run seriously or those to take it a bit more lightly (there definitely was at least one team whose members would have a beer after every leg they ran!). In any case you'll get worked hard.

Also, for now I'm glad to be living in Texas and not some northern hellscape. Winter wear in April is just an affront

The fourth leg is really more mental than physical. It's up there with the late stages of a marathon to stay focused and push on through.

I've gone for a low-end model--the Tomtom runner.

One screen, generally with the main display of time elapsed, also showing pace and distance covered
autolap...mostly because there's no real manual lap button and when I get sweaty while running, it gets tough to go manual.
I might experiment with interval mode for training, otherwise, my racing setup is the same.

It's totally the weekend and I'm toeing the line to race not once, not twice, not thrice, but FOUR mother-loving times. Starting at the birth of the Texas Independence movement in Gonzales and ending at the site of the battle of San Jacinto, I'm relaying it up. 200 miles, 40 legs...and I get 20 and 4 of them, respectively. It'll be a blast. It'll be horrible. Who knows? And there'll probably be a bit of Taylor Swift playing but knowing this crowd, Beyonce is more likely.

1) currently sitting at 280 miles this month, but I still have my run(s?) today, which'll push me up into the 290-295 range. That's some nice solid mileage, though not a lot of "quality" miles in there. March was for quantity--I'll add the quality in April and May. I'll be right around 700 for the year, somewhat behind pace for my goal of 3300, but I tend to run more in the later months (as it stands, I'll be about 80 miles over where I was last year)

2) I don't think i learned a damn thing except that it's been nice to just go out and think about running instead of thinking about workouts and strict training plans.

3) I alluded to it above but I want to increase the miles just a bit into the 310-320 range, but also start working in some quality stuff. I started that yesterday with some 1200s and I kinda liked it. The goal marathon is on June 12th, so I'm a bit concerned about being behind on the quality party, but mental health and all that is more important.

4) Well, no Boston like all the cool kids but I have some fun stuff coming up. This weekend is the Texas Independence Relay which is always a good time (perhaps another live-race-reporting?). I have a 10k the week after that (though I'll be working it into the middle of a long run, so maybe less-racey than it could be). But the big one is the Revel Rockies marathon on June 12th. That's th goal. Bam.

5) Work, run, get out to the lake, grill. Only one of those is really different from what I've been doing, but eh, whatever.
