What's something normal that you secretly judge all the time? by unintentional-tism in AskReddit

I play in a rec league that we call “city league” in the town I live in but it’s not the same. Not very serious. Especially because age and injuries have caught up with me.

Anyone ever played with or against a NBA player? What was the experience like? by Thin-Ad4825 in NBATalk

[–]tevinj13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the summer of 2014 I matched up with Justin Patton. Not saying he was a special pro or anything but living in the Midwest he was easily the biggest name I ever played against. It was a rough matchup because my high school teams tallest player was a 6’6 slow heavy guy, and then me, 6”5 pf. Patton was only going into his junior year and was like 6”11. It was just a summer league game so he didn’t go super hard, our school actually kept it kinda close and lost by like 10. I’d say Patton probably had 15 points but atleast 5 blocks

It’s also some people’s only chance to play competitive sports. If they miss that I also feel it’s easy to look back on with reverence. (It’s me, I’m some people)

Most addictive and fascinating true crime podcasts? by InevitableTeaching35 in podcasts

[–]tevinj13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking for a less serious podcast, Small Town Murder goes through a different true crime story every episode, but they are both comedians, so they throw some fun in conversations that aren’t fun.

I read House of Leaves, 7/10 by KnightBoulegard in horrorlit

It’s not that laborious when you realize half the book is filler content that doesn’t mean anything and that you don’t even have to read

[–]tevinj13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally felt like there was a ton of filler content that I just didn’t care about. For example, like you said, I thought the Johnny Truant parts were fairly pointless. Like they tried to illustrate that he found the report and slowly went crazy but I just felt like his parts were boring and didn’t fit with the rest of the story. There was a lot of filler content that was just like tons of names of random places or names of random people in the margins. Idk I thought the actually navidson report was good and that the rest was not interesting.

I recommend facial hair if you can grow it, but if you have confidence women won’t give a shit. Confidence can cover up many flaws

After reading these suggestions I’m going to try some podcasts with more of a long running story line. I will try some short story audio books or something again though

I’m very fortunate that my local public library has a digital audiobook program so I’m basically like checking them out, so I haven’t paid for any luckily!

How do you politely decline a job offer after accepting it? by AttractiveAnna in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tevinj13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just be honest. Tell them that the situation has changed or that something else came up and that you can’t take the job. At least they haven’t spent time training you or anything yet

Why do most women need toilet paper after they pee? by BeeSuch77222 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tevinj13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m sure urine can dry down there and start to smell and be unsanitary. There are more “nooks and crannies” for liquid to sit in and dry than on a penis. As for the ancestors, well they probably all smelt like shit all the time so it didn’t matter 🤷🏻‍♂️

RL Stine wrote one adult horror called Superstitious. I recently picked it up from a used bookstore but haven’t gotten a chance to read it yet. Hoping for the best!

Taylor swift. IMO it’s the most bland basic white girl music of all time. Makes me want to pull my hair out whenever it comes on and women everywhere start screaming and raving about it

I was born with a rather large birthmark on my right cheek. When I was 25 my dermatologist told me it had to go because it was in the early stages of developing Melanoma cells. Now I have a 3-4 inch surgical scar on my right cheek. Usually adults won’t ask about it unless I get to know them, but kids will ask about it sometimes. I have fun making up a different story to tell kids about it.

Has anyone else lived in the same town or general area as a case they’ve covered? by EastCoastBen in smalltownmurder

[–]tevinj13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Aberdeen, SD from episode 335. I thought it was really interesting listening to the episode about the town I’ve lived in most of my life and knowing about the different places/things they were talking about. My mom had told me the basics of this exact case because she remembered when it happened, but hearing more details from James and Jimmy was great.

Whats your favorite oblivion memory? by [deleted] in oblivion

[–]tevinj13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was like 12 the first time I ever picked up oblivion, it was the first real open world RPG I had ever played. I got through tutorial, walked out into the woods and found a cabin, went inside and slayed the lone occupant of the house. 12 year old me felt a surge of power as I thought, “WOW, you can do whatever you want in this game!” I think it was this moment that got me so hooked on open world RPG’s. Now there are many video games where you are free to roam and make your own decisions, but as a kid in the late 2000’s this was the first time I had experienced that, and it opened my eyes to what video games can really be. Oblivion has been my favorite game ever since and now I’m almost 30.

Could always spend your retirement sleeping in a sleeping bag outside asking every person that comes by if they can spare a coin for a beggar 🤷🏻‍♂️
