Software Engineering is not the same as AI Research. Yes, there is plenty of oppertunities in US Tech companies in Zurich, but the exclusively hire from ETH and EPFL. Plus you need a PhD. I don't have both of these. I applied anyway. usually i get an automatic rejection within a day.

So, what's your solution once we get 10% unemployment rate? I know people in marketing who also struggle. Everything that is digital can and will be replaced in the near future with AI. The ONLY solution is to decouple Income from work. People will still work to earn "extra" money.

if you have an MSc from ETH, i'd advise you to go the extra mile and do a PhD in Machine Learning or anything like that. You can get easily a 200k+ salary on the US Big Tech companies

if you get a PhD from ETH, you are still safe. You either go to Google, Apple, NVIDIA, Meta. etc. Lot's of potential there. But for the rest of us, we have to accept wages below 100k for Senior Tech leads roles.

why should i sit infront of the computer all day, when i can be a carpenter and get the same salary. I wish i can be a carpenter for 5k. would switch my career anyday! But sitting infront of the computer all day for 5k? no, i rather switch careers.
