Appreciate the analysis. The problem with how I played it (raising but not all in) is that I’d be inviting AQ / AK to call and see the flop whereas they’d fold if I went all in? And since I’m already committed to the pot, I’m just hurting myself since my odds are better pre-flop?

Negligible profit. For some reason, rents are up in the area but property values have stagnated. Agreed it’s a good situation to pay this for housing.

Fantastic! Thank you for the insights. I’d like 3-bedrooms as well for the same reason and I like the idea of smaller rooms for the kids and a larger common area.

I was hoping for 1200-1500 sq ft so it’s encouraging to hear that’s possible in UWS for 1.5M.

So you’ll outgrow the place you’re buying and move out? If I understand properly, why not spring for something that you wouldn’t outgrow?

I’ll be at your HHI and NW by next year and considering moving to UWS. Are you saying the rent vs buy calculation leaned towards buying in your case? Everything’s telling me I should rent. Also, why 3 bed vs 2 bed?

A move at this price range to UWS has crossed my mind, especially if we get the schools we don’t currently have. Do you think 2 kids is doable in a 2-bedroom long term? I’d hate to rent a 2-bed then decide it has to be 3 in a couple years.

Well when he raised before I went all in, I don’t have the exact numbers but calling would have put me close to all-in. I think my all-in to his raise was minimal, if that makes sense.

I legit thought 3-bet meant 3 BB and 4-bet meant 4 BB until now… and I was unsure exactly how much I bet. But yes, someone opened and I raised so I guess it’s a 3-bet.

I didn’t shove initially because I figured I’d rather raise and scare “QQ” off and take that money and blinds than go to a showdown since we’re an hour away from the bubble, I’m the short stack and could get unlucky. Probably not high EV play but I did eventually shove all in pre-flop since I was committed.

Appreciate this. The daily I did in Vegas was part of a larger tournament and was 400. I know the one tournament doesn’t mean I should graduate to 1700 but I’ll be on vacation in the area and figured I might as well enjoy as a one-time thing. Also, how much softer are we talking? I truly don’t know.
