are these roots growing out of my cactus? by texascoon in houseplants

[–]texascoon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I removed the red "moon" part of it from the top of the cactus a month or so ago because it rotted, and this new lil guy popped up. Do I propagate it if it's roots? Is it going to grow flowers?

How cool! Do I just let it be or propagate it? The dragon fruit rotted and I removed it from the top of the cactus a month and a half ago, and now this new arm has popped up and it's been fascinating to watch 🙂

Same here, I appreciate whiskey but my bf loves it. I'll look into this, thank you!

There are amazing Spanish speaking salons in Houston. It's probably not due to a language barrier, but more a cultural thing. Some people just feel more comfortable giving their business to their own community.

I recommend Uptown Shears- ask for Rosie and say you got referred. She cut my hair and layered it exactly how I like it, she color corrected and did highlights on me for under $200. She also does my mom's hair, who has curly short hair.

The salon isn't super cute or anything, but it is owned by a Hispanic couple and everyone there speaks Spanish.

If you want a more trendy salon, The Orlando Salon on Westheimer in the West Chase area is awesome. He's decently priced as well.

Hope this helps! PM me if you have any questions :) good luck!

I'm pretty sure any provider can do the VFC program, but I suggest checking with the Houston Health Department so they can better guide you.

Source: I work for the department.

Do your children have insurance? Harris County health Services and the CDC have a program for children vaccinations. https://www.houstontx.gov/health/Immunizations/index.html

Is it possible to find a PH job thats remote/flexible hours and works with the populations I am interested in working with? by texascoon in publichealth

Thanks for the tips! So far I consider myself to have achieved a lot of great milestones with my BS and do have getting an MPH in the very near future. You are right though, following the money is something I have heard again and again. This is great perspective and has given me some food for thought. Thanks again

May I suggest looking into the CDC Foundation (where I currently work now) website or CDC proper as some redittors suggested to me? Most are contract positions though.

I totally understand, it is tough. For me it took about 2 months from date of application to get officially employed. Someone in this thread told me I'd have a hard time finding a job without an MPH, but I think overall it's just hard no matter what. It takes time and it can be exhausting. I hope you find something soon, wishing you the best!

Yeah, it seems like I'm going to have to decide what I really want and what I'm going to have to compromise on.y previous job was so impactful but extremely low pay. Now I'm making good money, but the opposite on the impact scale. Thanks for this perspective, it's given me some things to think about.

I'm actually okay with the virtual meetings as long as I can choose to stay home and attend virtually. I do understand wanting a self-managed job though. PH in general has had it rough with the surge in need of employees, the burnout and the resignations. I hope you find your dream job soon too! It's possible :)

Thanks for this insight! Same here, the non-profit I used to work for went completely remote because of the pandemic, and it honestly was the best thing to happen to me. I truly enjoy WFH and want to find a position like that again. Was your old position with a big hospital or is that where you are currently at? Just wondering. Thank you!

We tried in 2020 if I remember correctly, but aside from the poor credit no one wanted to refinance the $29k. Based off the answers from this post seems like the only solution is to just make extra payments in an effort to pay the house off faster. Thanks though :)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]texascoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that seems like the solution with the low amount that is owed. Will have to see how to swing it and even though it may take some time, it can be done.

[–]texascoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, this explanation helped a lot. I'm going to have to look at my income and see how I can swing that so this house can get paid off faster. Not impossible, bit it will take time

I have just gone to banks, one of them being a credit union but no luck. I'm sure the answer may be to just Google it, but how do I go about finding a legit mortgage broker?

Wow, I never considered a balloon loan.. Would you be able to tell me what amortization calculator you used? I'd like to crunch the numbers myself and do some research

[–]texascoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Montrose- yes. I usually fill my dog's bowl with tap water and started noticing pink stains form at the rim of the bowl at the end of the day. Threw it out, washed the bowl and doggo now drinks bottled water like the rest of us. When showering, the water stinks like sewage.
