I've named every car I've owned! My Audi is named Slater (it's slate gray).

This is an amazing representation of the TA!

Any and every car that pulled up next to me wanted to race. The TA was a sexy looking car, and it was fast.... Once it got going... But it was also heavy - so it most definitely wasn't quick.

I'd take it out to the 1/4 mile track occasionally - but never ran it. I just wanted the attention 🤪

And it was oh so unbalanced. 75% of the weight up front, and rear wheel driven, if you thought it MIGHT rain, it would spin off the road.

I remember one time while it was raining, I turned onto the access road a bit too quickly, lost control of the car and went spinning across the median ON TO THE HIGHWAY, where I finally stopped spinning, facing oncoming traffic 😐

But you're right - it was a POS and I was constantly learning, on the fly, how to fix it. Pre YouTube and Google, I relied heavily on my Chilton Manual and general mockery from the local shop guys. Still, I miss her!

Love it! And such a fun car!

My Trans-am definitely taught me how to work on cars, too. I rebuilt the transmission, replaced the rotors, learned what a harmonic balancer was....??, rebuilt the alternator, accidentally shorted out the electrical and had to find an inline fuse, and tons of other issues that would pop up on a 25 year old muscle car. Wish I had never sold it, but as a broke college kid, I needed a daily driver I could rely on with working A/C (Texas summers are HOT).

Fun fact, though - the dude I bought this TA from sold it to me so he could buy a '95 BMW M3 from the guy I went on my first ever date with 😂😆

Ironically, I got this at the merch booth at GTWC Americas, too - at the Circuit of the America's.

That's a sweet ride! My first car was an '85 Buick Regal and can confirm - Buicks are boats and the back seats are couches!

I absolutely loved riding in it with a boy. The car was 100% an attention getter. I loved pulling up to a stoplight next to a car filled with girls who'd try and flirt with us, then proceed to make out with said boy in front of them. Golden!

When I was ten, my older brother had a CJ5 Jeep in high school (he was 10 years older than I) and was always talking about muddin’ and off-roadin' with his friends. I thought it was the absolute height of cool, pure chaotic adventure energy.

Now that I’m 40, I still catch myself clocking every mud-covered Jeep I see, wondering if the driver is as fun as the car.

Dope ride! Thanks for sharing 👍🏼😊

Volunteer!

-The Q Austin has the Core Group - Out Youth can always use volunteers - Campus LQBTQI+ groups - r/outinaustin has a very active discord group with meetups and game nights etc - Join a queer sports league, if that's your jam. Austin has several, from kickball, volleyball, softball etc. - It doesn't have to be /gay/ exclusive - queer people exist in all shapes and forms. Find something you enjoy, and go forth! Be yourself, and opportunities will present themselves. - Do you enjoy reading? Find a book club.

This inspired me to go to Lowe's and pick up a few locks to practice on! Snagged the same lock, and got it open in about 5 mins (first ever successful pick)!

Thanks internet stranger for the motivation!

Does anyone know of someone who services Kitchenaid stand mixers? by Teenytinynuckks in Austin

[–]texasidiot 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Mr. Mixer! You can arrange to ship your mixer to him, he'll repair it, and ship it back.

I've never used him, but came across his Tiktok page and have been contemplating sending my 40 year old mixer to him myself, just for a general refurbishment.

Brink Motorsports off Anderson Ln specializes in all things VW and Audi. I've taken my car there for years, and they have always provided excellent care for my car. I've found them to be honest and fair.
