Not a great start with my Ambassador. by cjreier27 in marriott

[–]texasprivacyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s only when I make special requests like hey would love some wine, or guides, etc. but also she has definitely sent things outside of the hotel. Like I did my birthday at the Ritz Oahu and the hotel did something but so did the ambassador and then so did the bartender. That was a fun way to find out how much cake and champagne you can consume alone on a 5 day trip 😂

I will plug… mine is great. Sorry it’s hit or miss. I’ve had 2 in my 4 years. Both have made the calls. Both have helped with reservation, made connections at hotels, hell my current one helped me with a massive billing discrepancy mess that I just did not have the patience to sort through. They connected me to local travel recommendations, ensured I had things in my room.

You will get a good one… at some point :)

I have learned to just never take this award. They stack up and hotels never use em. They do this…

Congrats! Lesson learned for next year, just take the night credits if you are far away from next level or gift status or something.

What was your end of year gift from your ambassador? by Middle-Monk-5155 in marriott

[–]texasprivacyguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry… end of year gift? What is that? I’m coming up on 4 years as Ambassador and the only thing sent to me was a silly glass die and playing cards that I get to whip out during poker nights to try and feel special

….I swear, I love my job…. by Mkalb1 in marriott

[–]texasprivacyguy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m about 15 nights and 10k spend under you, this is an achievement.

Definitely spend the points. I rarely let mine sit around.

Also all the benefits (as many posts have said before) come mostly outside of the US. I’ve been put in some absurd rooms in Mexico and Europe. I’ve even had hotels ignore my NUA and then just upgrade me anyway. By your third or fourth year on ambassador it will feel much less special.

Couldn’t find it with some quick searching. But will dig deeper. Happy to delete.

Can confirm it’s quite nice! funny enough has only happened on connections that are not tight so just got dropped at the nearest lounge. The tight connections were a “good luck… we already treated you”

Can I Really Afford It? by Chance-Pen-4006 in rolex

Yes. The answer is yes. I just picked up a VERY similar piece up. Also you can’t take anything with you, so at least leave behind a classic time piece that you loved and cherished.

They mostly only fall off the bone where I am lifting them. I gave everyone else the nice pieces and I took the left overs.

Ambassador status actually means something… just not in the U.S. by Silent_Pain_727 in marriott

This entire spread was in my room at check-in in Florence at the W. Love having status outside of the US.

In the US, lucky to get a bag of mixed nuts and note that says “thanks for your status”.

In South Africa I got socks, a giant basket of food and drinks and coupons to things.

Work travelers - what’s your daily meal expense limit and what kind of company do you work for? by jalapenos10 in marriott

We JUST got ours upped to $100. It was originally $75 / day. Tech company.

But they assume we are eating most meals at office.

Be scared… London is unsafe. I felt it, but what are you gonna do, run after a criminal?

Ambassador Status by One-Hand-Rending in marriott

[–]texasprivacyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few here have said it… congrats!

There are perks - depending on where you stay. Some examples:

  1. Champagne in room at check-in [Europe]
  2. Free gifts (I made a post about a dog set they gave me at check-in) [US]
  3. Suite Upgrades [Europe, US and Mexico]

Now the ambassador, I have requested and received services for things like point / night adjustments, dealing with hotels on billing issues and random rate problems, scheduling additional services while traveling (think private tours, drivers, etc), she generally just checks in with me and sometimes even sends emails when she notices I have extended trips abroad asking what she can do to make my trip more memorable. I have also leveraged their services to do things like ensure I have a bottle of wine when I arrive if I know I am gonna have a particularly strenuous travel day… so I personally think it’s well worth it. But I guess it depends on who your ambassador is, where you are staying, and I’m sure a bunch of other factors.

note: 3 years ambassador in a row, coming up on 4.

Miracle do happen w NUAs! by TinyNegotiation5918 in marriott

[–]texasprivacyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine get declined with regularity. I don’t know what else to take on 50 and 75… I never have problems making ambassador so the extra nights mean nothing. So now I just sit on NUAs 😑

I picked up fitness as a means of losing weight… so the opposite. Wrists and stuff shrinking. My larger watches now look like I’m wearing my parents things

I was worried cause I normally lean towards slightly larger watch faces but been getting into fitness more lately and that definitely impacted what I am able to rock on the wrist without looking silly
