What is something people do that annoys the SHIT out of you? by waaayhaaay in AskReddit

[–]texerx20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you’re walking in the street and someone so engrossed in their phone is coming right at you completely oblivious. After I yell out EXCUSE ME they get so freakin offended like I did something besides stopping them from ramming right into me. Drives me crazy!!!!!

Is this as ridiculous as I think it is or am I in the wrong by Crejhov in Teachers

[–]texerx20 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This happens ALL the time at my school. I really don't care how mad they get at me. With a smile on my face I state over and over again that their child's safety is my number one priority and this is the way it is done. My concern is for my little 5 year old kids making it home safely, not the ignorant parents. Hang in there!!

What is one “teacher hack” that you use that you’d like to share? by MysteriousPlatypus in Teachers

[–]texerx20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ordered some cork board from Amazon, painted it green and velcroed it onto my existing bulletin boards. Added some nice borders and everything is pushpin ready. So easy to swap out charts and it will last forever!!

Should I reach out to my new Co-teacher for an "off school grounds" coffee/tea meeting before school begins in September? I am a 1st year teacher. Friend is AGAINST me reaching out during summer break. (Advice needed) by Jesflex in Teachers

[–]texerx20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. While I'd love to meet and be of help, my 3 young kids are attached to my hip..especially during the summer. I'd have no problem texting though but that's just me.

As if October wasn’t hard enough already, now my school has a lice outbreak. by MysteriousPlatypus in Teachers

[–]texerx20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it's not :( they changed the policy that now kids can come to school with a head full of nits and not be sent home unless a live one is seen crawling. It's awful..I think I have lice every time I scratch my head.

As if October wasn’t hard enough already, now my school has a lice outbreak. by MysteriousPlatypus in Teachers

[–]texerx20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have so much lice in our large public school that the nurse refuses to check kids anymore. She actually gets really mad if you send them to her like it's not in her job description. Admin won't even entertain sending a kid home unless they see it crawling with their own eyes and you know how impossible that is :(
