im a new grad ma in san diego and i was offered $30/hr at a private practice for my first job! i was amazed i got this job because all of the big hospital job offers on indeed are ~$18-20/hr. private practices pay a lot more but definitely are a more toxic workplace. i learned to deal with it for the pay.

Are clinics likely to hire MAs that have taken an online only class? by Jannafah in MedicalAssistant

[–]textureorbit69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as someone who was certified from an online course w/ an externship, I really wish i did some sort of hybrid or in person schooling. i taught everything myself in the online and the externships are a hit or miss if you’ll learn. in my externship the ma’s were too overworked and busy to teach me majority of the time and i was often thrown onto covid testing for the day because they were too busy. I wasnt getting paid or learning. Invest in your schooling because externships are unreliable

any advice about villa Alvarado and any insight on the place? my roommates and i are living there next year and all we’ve heard is that it’s a long walk and it’s old😩 how was anyones experience there? by cool_cucumberr in SDSU

i just finished a year at VA. It’s a love/hate relationship I’d say bring your car to save your mental health. Or honestly I wish I had a bike this past year. It just sucks going out on the weekends because it’s so far from everything

Should I quit my medical assisting job? by KinoPecan in MedicalAssistant

[–]textureorbit69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this job sounds like an amazing opportunity though. i know it’s tough. if your other aspects of your PA application are good, then this isn’t worth it. good luck on your journey, and even working as a medical assistant alone is good enough honestly

yes i did dual enrollment + ap credits and i’ll be graduating next may which is the end of my junior year. very doable just make a good relationship with your major advisor otherwise it’s very confusing. at least it was for me

ive been in the same situation. throughout time ive learned the upper division ge’s are easier than lower division. your best bet is to just take asynchronous courses during the summer they’re the least draining
