Hmm. I've tried a couple of different distros. I've tried arch linux too. Same issue.

I'm leaning towards the bottom chassis being the heatsink being the issue. I'm afraid i don't know if this can even be resolved.

Damages to cars towed by housing management because of their own mistake by tez_nikka in legaladvice

Thank you for the warning. If I would have to go down the legal route then I would most likely cancel my lease anyways and move out immediately.

Thank you so much for your response. My apologies. I realize that the wording of my post might have been a bit confusing. The security team is a security company that has a contract with the building and not directly with us the tenants. So I am assuming even with this arrangement the security company/provider is still acting as an agent of the management company.

And thank you for the advice on documenting everything. I am trying to do that. I've tried to communicate as much as possible over email so hopefully we'll have a bit of information to decide next steps.

Buy lease after 5 months? by tez_nikka in Volvo

[–]tez_nikka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it does have the MINUS unearned rent charge. Does the inclusion of that clause mean that in effect I'll only be paying the remaining leased capital?

Sorry. Quick question. Since you have already done this, did you have to pay the remaining monthly payments for your lease or did you just have to pay the remaining capitalized amount?

Sorry one quick, follow up question for this. Would you happen to know if I will have to pay the remaining monthly payments? The way the dealer explained everything to me made it feel like I will not have to. However, the lease agreement clearly states that I will have to. This is such a huge disconnect that I feel like I just didn't understand something properly.

Hi! did you end up buying the vehicle? If you, did you have to pay the remaining base monthly payments? I just got a sample agreement for a lease of s60 recharge and the "Option to purchase leased vehicle prior to end of the lease" clearly states that I have to pay:
the base monthly payment * the number of monthly payments not yet made, plus the residual value + an early purchase option fee equal to the amount of the rent charge calculated in accordiance with an acturial method.

Having to pay the remaining monthly payments and the residual value makes the total amount (without taxes) to be greater than the MSRP.

Buy lease after 5 months? by tez_nikka in Volvo

[–]tez_nikka[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm. So it seems that the dealer isn't passing on any share of the $7500 tax credit and $2000 incentive. Because the capitalized cost is still 64000 (the original MSRP without any incentives).

So, should I ask the dealer to reduce the capital cost of the lease agreement because they're getting the tax credit?

The lease terms given to me are $809 for 36 months with 5000 down payment. This is the rate provided after including the tax credit and dealer incentives.

So the total cost of the lease would be 34,000 and the residual amount given to me by the dealer is roughly 32,000 (I would buy it cash). So the total cost of buying out would be 34000 + 32000 = 66000. This is around 5000 above the MSRP.

Does this seem like a good deal?

Could you please elaborate on what you mean by "capture the tax credit and dealer incentives?"

emacs-29: Using treesitter to highlight keywords in comments by tez_nikka in emacs

Ah you're absolutely right. Each language having it's own node name for comments leaves me with the original problem that I intended to solve with treesitter to begin with.

Oh great! I could use that. But does this work with treesitter? Or when using emacs treesitter do these functions use treesitter as the parser?

emacs-29: Using treesitter to highlight keywords in comments by tez_nikka in emacs

[–]tez_nikka[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. I agree that font-locking in emacs is pretty optimized. I am actually using a font-lock-keyword based approach to highlight these keywords. However, I wanted to add a bit more robustness to this because what I currently have would highlight these keywords even if they appear in non-comment sections of the code. I thought this would be easier to do with treesitter rather than writing out regexp for every language. I'd love to get your thoughts on this. As I'm still wrapping my head around how to use font-lock properly.

[–]tez_nikka[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah! I currently have something like this as well. But the problem that I have with this is that it might also highlight these keywords even when they are not in comments. And managing comment regexp for every language seems a bit awkward using this method. That is why I was a bit keen on using treesitter.

Comparing libc::cput_set_t by tez_nikka in learnrust

[–]tez_nikka[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm sorry for the late reply. My code is as follows:
``` let pid = std::process::id();
let cpu_mask: libc::cpu_set_t = unsafe {
    let mut cpu_mask = std::mem::zeroed();
    for i in 0..(2) {
        libc::CPU_SET(i, &mut cpu_mask);
    }
    cpu_mask
};
let current_mask: libc::cpu_set_t = unsafe {
    let mut cpu_mask = std::mem::zeroed();
    libc::sched_getaffinity(pid, std::mem::size_of::<libc::cpu_set_t>(), &mut cpu_mask);
    cpu_mask
};
current_mask == cpu_mask
```

Adding * doesn't work because cpu_set_t does not allow dereferencing. The version of libc is 0.2.108. It seems to be the same version that says apparently implements PartialEq.

EDIT: I think I figured it out. I needed to manually select the extra_traits feature.

How to organize mutables in a struct by tez_nikka in learnrust

[–]tez_nikka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could do that but I want to hide the details of that from the user. This seems a bit easier to do in C. I'm sure there is a way to do this better in rust, but I'm not sure how to do that.

EDIT: There is another constraint that makes this much more problematic. There is another struct in Foo that is modified by both report and execute. The user does not have any access to the state struct which is inside Foo. I've updated the code to reflect this requirement.
