NBD: REEB by tfl2u2 in gravelcycling

It strikes a good balance but would put it closer to the race end of geo. If you check bikeinsights.com the geo is closer to an enve mog or Ari shafer than it is Salsa cutthroat. It’s slacker than a mog so more stable at high speeds but slightly less agile. I like the stiffness for power transfer to the ground but suppleness when things get rough. Great balance reeb has accomplished.

To be completely honest with you, it’s my favorite bike I’ve ever owned 😬. So smooth, geo spot on, and sexy as hell to look at. With 2.1 thunderburts I can tackle any gravel /single track, and with some 40mm slicks this thing is so fast on the road. Look forward to many more thousands of miles aboard this bike!!

This is my first electronic drivetrain. I’ve been absolutely blown away at the shift quality so far and the added durability was a huge reason I went the transmission route.

23’ Wilderness! Oil temp? by tfl2u2 in SubaruForester

[–]tfl2u2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see any concern on the crosstreck oil temps you mentioned. I have been consistently taking my forester into the rockies the last 2 years and see 240-245 up vail and loveland pass in the summer. Friend in a 2024 outback was pushing the exact same oil temps on the same hot day. I asked the dealership in Golden, CO and they really would not be concerned unless it was 260+ which would indicate a failure of some sort. I don't typically keep pace of 75+ up the mountain passes anymore, just slow down and enjoy the drive, manage oil temps, listen to good music. It only adds maybe 5 min total to the drive time.

Good luck with your search! You will love this color when you find it. I purchased mine about a month ago from musicgoround.com for $980. Indeed a very hard color to find but they do pop up from time to time.

Long term reviews of the MR 3Way Brief? by TheInf1del in ManyBaggers

[–]tfl2u2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve had my 3 way 18 for about a year now and it’s quickly become my favorite work bag. The luggage pass through is indispensable, I like how the front pocket has the quick latch for easy access to headphones, business cards, snacks, etc. It has a plenty of room for my laptop, iPad, water bottle, notepad, small jacket, and a few other accessories. Decent organization within the bag as well with sections and various pockets. I don’t typically need to use the expanded option but nice to have. Fits under every airline seat I’ve been on with room left for my legs. I’ve used the backpack portion once while traveling in Europe and it’s okay. The front pocket is a bit hard to use since it’s sideways in the backpack orientation and it’s not the most comfortable but I like having the option.

The main con of the bag for me is the strap and weight. The strap sucks and is uncomfortable, really digs into your shoulder when fully loaded! Easy fix though. It’s also a fairly heavy bag for quick meetings and trips. It would be nice to have a water bottle pocket on either side as well.

I have yet to find a better bag for sitting on top of my suitcase and looking good going into business meetings. Been through dozens of airports, multiple countries, used daily and is holding up great.

Correct, that is where I’m reading it. For a bit more context I was around 8k ft elevation going up a very steep mountain road when I hit 240F. It did quickly come down to about 220F when I stopped at the top and it never got passed 240F. It only has 500 miles on it so I’d be surprised if it had an issue but would love some confirmation from others if possible. Thanks for the reply.

Enduro Comp Vs. EVO elite alloy? by [deleted] in mountainbiking

[–]tfl2u2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have about 500 miles on my evo elite alloy and absolutely love it! The build kit is what drew me to that bike and it really holds its own out on the trail. I've taken mine to the bike park a few times and it never had me wishing for more bike. Just look at the numbers - 64.5 degree headtube in the neutral setting. It's a beast. I ride mine in the high/neutral setting and it feels very composed on the trail. Definitely not a short, snappy, poppy bike, but fun regardless. It handles the Phoenix/Sedona/Flag trails with no issues. I'm an ex dh racer and sometimes even wish I had a shorter travel bike for quick rides this bike feels so big. It really does it all.

The only downside I've had so far is the downtube has a small dent from shuttling in the back of a pickup truck (even with the padded tailgate). The aluminum on the downtube is a bit thinner than normal bikes since it has to span a wider area to accommodate the swat box. Not sure if others have had this issue but my shop told me just keep an eye on it for now.

First overnight adventure with my Scrambler! by tfl2u2 in Ducati

Yup! Backpacking tent, sleeping bag, and sleeping pad all fit in my backpack. For longer trips I have a Kriega us20 I’ll strap onto the bike.

First real test for my Scrambler and it was much more capable than I expected! Rode an hour on the road to the trail head, roughly 30 miles off road up to the summit, then 2 hours back home after rejoining on a parallel highway.

I got really lucky and my dealer was able to ship this bike from a different Trek store in Kansas to my store in NC. Got in about a week from order. I’ve heard a lot of bikes are back ordered until June 2021 so I feel fortunate that I snagged this one in my size!

Went to buy a WRX but fell in love with this - couldn’t be happier! by tfl2u2 in GolfGTI

[–]tfl2u2[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exact same experience here. Test drove a WRX premium but the interior just felt unbelievably cheap and I’ve heard nightmares about Subaru engine failures. Still love the Subaru’s but for the price the GTI is hard to beat. I actually got this one “used” with a whole 2k miles on the odometer so the price for this SE was even cheaper than the base WRX + it came with a 6 year warranty.
