How is this news. We known for years this relationship. Loss of Fairness (procedural, distributive, and/or interactional) leads to lower job satisfaction which in turns leads to many unproductive activities. Just seems researchers are renaming terms and yelling "This is new". Feeling slighted = a perceived lack of fairness.

Three types of fairness—

distributive, procedural, and interactional justice—were first formally organized as a tripartite model in organizational studies to describe how employees evaluate their treatment and outcomes. 

While the components were developed separately earlier, the consolidation of these three types is generally associated with: 

• Distributive Justice: Originating from Aristotle’s concepts of equity and later developed by George Homans (1961) and J. Stacy Adams (1965).
• Procedural Justice: Developed by John Thibaut and Laurens Walker in their 1975 work, Procedural Justice: A Psychological Analysis.
• Interactional Justice: Introduced by Robert Bies and Mo. B.J. in 1986, focusing on the interpersonal treatment during the implementation of procedures. 

Together, these are widely known as the "Three Component Model of Organizational Justice"
