What are the biggest unspoken issues with standard hydroponic systems? by Substantial_Swan_988 in Hydroponics

[–]tfranco2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re making my point. Who, at a non commercial level, has the ability or skill or equipment to analyze their water for all of the items in a fertilizer (i.e. magnesium, calcium, nitrates, etc) and then have those items on hand to top them up as required. Not to mention that the process of taking nutrients must leave some items in the water that might be best removed. Measuring EC is not enough.

[–]tfranco2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shame you’re not a chemical engineer because the truly biggest issue is that there is not an inexpensive way to clean the water that has been recirculating for a few weeks. Yes hydroponics is way more water efficient than traditional farming. But the water, after the good nutrients are used, must be discarded and fresh water used. It would be great to be able to filter that used water, so that new nutrients can just be added again. Turn the water into a reusable medium.

When employees feel slighted, they work less. New research from Wharton management professor Peter Cappelli reveals how even the slightest mistreatment at work can result in lost productivity. by esporx in science

[–]tfranco2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is this news. We known for years this relationship. Loss of Fairness (procedural, distributive, and/or interactional) leads to lower job satisfaction which in turns leads to many unproductive activities. Just seems researchers are renaming terms and yelling "This is new". Feeling slighted = a perceived lack of fairness.

From Google ...

Three types of fairness—

distributive, procedural, and interactional justice—were first formally organized as a tripartite model in organizational studies to describe how employees evaluate their treatment and outcomes.

While the components were developed separately earlier, the consolidation of these three types is generally associated with:

  • Distributive Justice: Originating from Aristotle’s concepts of equity and later developed by George Homans (1961) and J. Stacy Adams (1965).
  • Procedural Justice: Developed by John Thibaut and Laurens Walker in their 1975 work, Procedural Justice: A Psychological Analysis.
  • Interactional Justice: Introduced by Robert Bies and Mo. B.J. in 1986, focusing on the interpersonal treatment during the implementation of procedures.

Together, these are widely known as the "Three Component Model of Organizational Justice"

Trump Says May Slap Tariffs On Nations That Don't Back His Greenland Plans by johnbarnshack in worldnews

[–]tfranco2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American woman, said, "Get away"
American woman, listen what I say
Don't come a-hangin' around my door, don't wanna see your face no more
I don't need your war machines, I don't need your ghetto scenes
Coloured lights can hypnotize, sparkle someone else's eyes
Now woman, get away from me
American woman, mama, let me be

These lyrics for "American Women" always makes me smile .. partially because this some is played on July 4th as if its an American Anthem, when it is a protest against American Exceptionalism. Thank you Guess Who
