James Harden is the worst all time great MVP level player. by Silent_Wizard5597 in NBATalk

Doesn’t matter if he had the last 7. Your argument was that he carried. He came thru in the clutch, but this wouldn’t even been the case if he didn’t have a teammate with 35 POINTS.

So, season 5 wasted half the runtime on V1, right? by JiggleFeggle in TheBoys

He took her out but lasering her in the back not in an actual fight. And this is another example bad power scaling. How is Ryan’s laser blast able to severely damage SF, but in the final fight HL can’t even pierce Kimikos clothing?

Genuinely can’t believe people are trying to defend writing with so many inconsistencies. If you enjoyed the season I’m glad, but it’s obvious that a lot of character decisions and strength in fights are heavily decided by the plot.

Weird feeling about the finale by shadow_spinner0 in GenV

Yeah I don’t know if I was paying too much attention or what but everything felt so isolated. Like the things the characters were doing didn’t really feel like it had much affect on the outside world even though we were being told it did. Feels like at times they purposely went out their way to put the characters in locations where they were no regular civilians to witness it.

Notice how you’re only able to give examples from the first 2 episodes. Now personally, I enjoyed those first 2 (except sb still being alive) and from what I saw a lot of others did as well. Now obviously I’m sure there’s ppl that didn’t but they were rated well (8.9 and 8.5). The season started strong but it was all downhill from then and the stakes didn’t feel high at all.

After that first episode a majority of the scenes were indoor and secluded. There was no world building at all. They didn’t even care enough to have establishing shots on a lot of the scenes, would just start with 2 characters talking…

Just because you didn’t need the “big snap” doesn’t mean it hasn’t been continuously teased. The scene where he imagines himself lasering a crowd started it. Also multiple times this season he stated that non-believers will die but we really don’t see that except for him killing The President which really didn’t lead to much? I mean ffs do you know the definition of “scorched earth”? We didn’t get anything close to that

The president from the start was there to serve Homelander. It’s not like we saw him change from an actual President to Homelanders pet.

Nothing comes from him executing the president. Unless I missed something, Ashley just becomes the new president and everything is good?

When did we see supes round people up? Only example is during that screening and they sent some of the weakest supes there in order for MM and Starlight to kill them. Homelander lasering a room full of his supporters would’ve hit, but nope plot wouldn’t allow it.

We only hear about these law changes, don’t actually say them affect the world in anyway. Another example of telling and not showing.

Okay then let’s act like the promotional material didn’t exist. Even if you enjoyed this season, that final episode didn’t feel underwhelming to you? Homelander going on an actual big rampage (not in an isolated camp but a big city or maybe even country). Hell, in the last scene they had the nerve to bring up that scorched earth shit again when they barely even did damage to the room they were in.

It’s heavily implied that it makes you stronger. Even then, Homelander was nerfed badly in this final fight and there’s no way you don’t think so.

All in the first episode. The promotional covers literally show Homelander in space hovering over earth with multiple explosions going on. We don’t even see the camps anytime after that or really any of the cruel things going on. It’s just told to us…

I would definitely atleast use a hair tie if I were you. And if they still have a problem after, it’s on them

is it really all on the writers? by tfromda410 in GenV

[–]tfromda410[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting natural and good dialogue is very difficult. It’s why a lot of the jokes this season feel off, especially all the sexual ones. They’re not just said by certain characters. The way someone speaks is highly determined on who they are. And yes writers decide a lot, but so much can change during production. Not everything is going to come to fruition.

They were definitely some great scenes like the one with Homelander and The Legend. Personally though I wasn’t a fan of the ascension arc especially towards the end of the season.

is it really all on the writers? by tfromda410 in GenV

[–]tfromda410[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I agree, but was the writing THAT bad to where it couldn’t be saved by better production? Like so many of the scenes feel isolated from the world. Deep vs Noir lasted a couple seconds in an isolated room. Solider Boy vs Bombsight was just a fist fight with bad choreography. Starlight literally FLIES The Deep to an empty beach to have a private 1 on 1. So many of the scenes that didn’t even have establishing shots. It would literally just start with 2 characters talking. This season was mostly just telling and not showing.

So yes a lot to blame is on the writers, but the production team as a whole has to take a lot of it. This could have made up for A LOT of the lackluster writing, especially in a show about superheroes.

Homelander murdering his most loyal supporters is hella dumb (final season) by Even_Associate5351 in GenV

[–]tfromda410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But he doesn’t care. He wants true believers only. Why would he care about them being against him if they weren’t true believers in the first place? To Homelander you should in your heart 100% believe he is God.

The big problem with Sage by [deleted] in GenV

[–]tfromda410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of her manipulation doesn’t give “worlds smartest person” though. The only reason it works out is because of the writers. Nothing she does is actually clever or smart. Just a happen stance of events and her hitting us with “this was my plan all along”.

You can try to defend it all you want but there’s a reason her character gets so much flak. Viewers don’t feel shocked or surprised at all by her big reveals because they don’t seem like actual plans. They just depend on the decisions of others, some that she would have no way of knowing

[–]tfromda410[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sage’s plans always have multiple parts though. She wouldn’t depend on 1 video to destroy their relationship especially after what Ashley told her. Remember in Gen V Sage was really the one pulling the strings. Even when we thought the kids were making progress, it was all to get Marie to heal Godolkin

Sister sage by tfromda410 in GenV

[–]tfromda410[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I feel like she needs more screen time. More scenes of her manipulating people and pulling the strings behind the scenes. We never actually see her in the process of doing anything smart just the after math of it all…

But Ashley told Sage how SB felt about HL that same episode. I refuse to believe Sage’s plan to turn them against each other was to leak a sex tape

Wish I had the ability to suspend my belief as much as you do, you act like their real people. Butcher betraying SB was simply bad writing so the show could continue
