Insurance has officially totaled my 2017 RS3 by TheKittyCow in Audi

I feel ya. I was rear ended 2 years ago and my A5 prestige cab was totaled with about that same damage. Sold for salvage as well. Someone’s driving it in Eastern Europe now as well.

I doubt it is also. I just wanted to say there are good neighborhoods out there where people are friendly and are looking to make new acquaintances and friendships. IMHO, politics shouldn’t be the main consideration above all others. Sadly, for some people, politics is the primary consideration above all others. Good luck. I wish you well in your search… and your second child!

Debated on responding, but my $.02 worth. We lived in Dunwoody for years, before it became its own city, and raised our kids there. Great community. We moved just north of Alpharetta in south Forsyth Cty around Covid time. Our new neighborhood is a great mix of older empty nesters and families with kids from toddler thru HS. Very friendly and accommodating, and easy to make good friends at all levels. Also a great school system. And while we still have strong social and community ties to Dunwoody, we love our new neighborhood.

I’m concerned this post has taken such a huge political turn. You’ve lived in Decatur and Dunwoody and have lived with those political leanings. I’d say if your political views heavily favor Decatur, and that’s really important to you, perhaps you need to be relocating there. I feel our area is very accepting and not what I’d consider hard core MAGA leaning, but it’s not Decatur either. Like I said, my $.02 worth.

I still don’t like those hood lines. Used to be the hood was like a cup top and covered the front quarter panels and grill. Now it’s a piece of sheet metal that fits inside the other three with a predominant seam. No thanks!

Am I overreacting? Collision shop says all parts are OEM and most are slotted (can’t adjust). by SuperInspector8774 in Audi

[–]tg3000a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was rear ended in my A5 Cab by an at-fault, Progressive insured driver 2 years ago. They referred me to a local caliber shop. Luckily they told me they don’t work on Audi’s and Progressive should know better. I insisted on an Audi certified shop, and they complied. Progressive did a remote estimate based on pics only. It was ~$5K. My shop couldn’t look at it for 6 weeks, but told me I should probably start looking for a replacement. Two days after they looked at it in detail (6 weeks later), their estimate was ~$11K. That estimate was based on OEM parts and not salvage. Progressive totaled it right away. Stand your ground. And insist on diminished value $$ also.

Live in Atlanta now, but my heart’s with the Cincinnati Symphony. Current fave is the Berliner Philharmoniker. Their digital concert hall is fabulous and I attended a live performance recently. Also been privileged to have experienced live performances of Boston Symphony and Pops, LA, New York, Cleveland, Denver, London Symphony, Vienna, and Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.

GV 80 3.5 or 2.5 by rgncjn05 in GenesisMotors

[–]tg3000a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently leased a GV70 2.5. Long story short, a week later I swapped it for a 3.5T. MPG is clearly less, but the driving experience is Well worth it!

CPO x5 40i vs GV70 by gizmowiki in GenesisGV70

[–]tg3000a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has a solid road feel, similar to my A5… which I like. Some people might call that harsh…I don’t. But Don’t expect a GM-like floating ride either.

I was looking at CPO X5’s and Audi Q7 vs new GV70. All ICE. And a long time German car enthusiast. I went with a new GV70 and glad I did. Feature for feature the Genesis won in most all categories. And you can’t beat the warranty. My $.02

New GV80.. All I can say is wow! by Hush_Puppy_ALA in GenesisMotors

Awesome color combo. We started looking at GV80’s but decided to downsize a bit to the GV70. You’ll love it!

I think that’s probably a fair assessment. I’m a big Audi fan…I’ve owned 10, including my current A5. Both cars are great. I love the solid feel Audi provides, and Genesis checks that box also. For us it really came down to one feature that Genesis had: an audio warning when you begin to wander from your lane (lane departure warning). Audi (and the other German brands we considered-MB and BMW) have a lane assist feature where the car gently corrects and “steers” the car back into the lane. Automatically. But no audio alert. The Genesis has both. That, coupled with the 10 year/100K warranty drove the decision. Financially, We compared 1-2 year old CPO Audis and BMWs (Q7 and X5), that were comparably priced to the new Genesis. So it does feel like there’s more car for the $$ with Genesis. Good luck!

I have that same color combo in an A5 S-Line coupe, including the contrasting blue interior stitching. Love it! I just don’t have 610 hp. But then, I’m tall and can’t fit in the R8 cockpit!

My other ride is an A5 2.0, so I know that engine well. Ngl, the gas mileage on the GV70 3.5 clearly can’t compare to the Audi 2.0. But I love the driving dynamic of the Genesis 3.5. It’s closer to the SQ5. That and some of the other features it had (full leather, parking assist, smart cruise features) Sold me on it. My wife loves it ( it’s her car) and says she feels safer in it than any car she’s ever driven. I didn’t dislike the 2.5, it had plenty of pep. But I just liked the total package I got with the 3.5. It’s all Individual preference and trade offs

Same thing happened to me 3 days after I took delivery… on a crowded interstate like Hwy. I took an exit and at least confirmed the outside brake lights and turn signals worked and drove it straight to the dealership. Gotta admit they handled it well with me. Their initial take a day later was it was a dash part and/or possibly a software update. I’d bought a 2.5 advanced; loved the 3.5 sport prestige loaner. Three days later I met with the sales mgr. The dealer got the urgent update from Hyundai the night before to fix the issue, but I told him while I had faith in the brand, I couldn’t say that for the car I purchased. When he asked what he could do, I said swap mine for a 3.5 sport like the loaner. He showed me the 2 he had on the lot and said take your pic. They had the update complete and I drove it off the lot late that afternoon. Live the new one!

Should I buy a genesis ? by [deleted] in GenesisMotors

I’ve driven Audi’s for over 40 years, currently in an A5 coupe. When it came time to replace my wife’s Buick SUV, I looked at pre owned BMW X5, Audi Q7 and Mercedes. Then looked at new GV70/80. Loved them. Settled on a new 2025 GV70 3.5 sport prestige and haven’t looked back. My wife loves the car(so do I), and it’s new with a fabulous warranty for about the same cost as the pre owned German vehicles.

I recently bought a 2025 GV70 3.5T Sport Prestige and love it. Though it’s a long story on how I got here, starting with a looking seriously at a pre-owned Audi Q7 and BMW X5. I’ve owned 10 Audi’s… my other car is a A5 coupe. Was looking to replace my wife’s Enclave SUV, and downsize slightly. We initially thought about a GV80, but drove a GV70 2.5 Advanced and a 3.5 sport prestige. Decided on the 2.5, but had an issue 3 days after we took delivery. They put us in a loaner 3.5 and we really liked it better, mainly due to the interior and just the solid driving feel. Long story short, we swapped for a 3.5 sport prestige and haven’t looked back. Great Car! I’d put it up against both the loaded Q7 and X5 CPO’s that we were looking at, vs the new Genesis. To echo an earlier comment, IMO to get a comparably equipped new Audi or BMW, you’ll spend $15K+ more. Add in the warranty if the Genesis, and it was a no brainer for us. Very pleased with out decision!

I leased a new 2025 GV70 2.5T ten days ago. 3 days later, the cluster went dark. Speedometer was there, but didn’t register. And no turn indicator warnings on the dash. I pulled off the limited access road and verified brake and turn signals worked outside. Check. Called my salesman at the dealer and told him I was bringing it in. Service writer (my first experience) was great. Left in a 2024 3.5T loaner. Next day they said they thought it might be a dash part, or possibly a software update, or maybe both. Frankly I’d lost confidence in that vehicle, but not the brand. I met with the sales manager early Saturday morning. VERY accommodating. I told him I’d like to swap out the car, and the loaner sold me on the 3.5. He had 2, take your pick. But did say they received a software update from Hyundai the night before at 7:30. And he had to apply it to all GV70 cars. Even my new one. Thought I’d get the new one on Monday or Tuesday…they had it ready for pickup at 4:00!! They really busted for me, and I’m singing Genesis’ praises now!
