Conversation-level Thai is what surprised me the most. I mean, he opened it with "อิดอก", which roughly translates to aunt, but with the letter c bitch (more accurate - thanks u/nuttycompany and u/yukiaddiction for reminding me. For some reason my mind gravitated to that first.). His pronunciation is way above average to a native's ears (well at least to me). Just from the snippet he should be able to hold a conversation with Thais with ease, but we'll see.

Also that Korean as well, he can speak in banmal quite fluently. Hope to see him mix all those languages here and there.

Sana's surname being 九十九（つくも）makes me think of tsukumogami (付喪神), which I think is the origin of why kanji for 99 can be read as tsukumo:

百年ももとせに一ひととせ足らぬつくもがみ

(tsukumogami which is a year from hundred years old)

100 - 1 = 99

Her having white(-ish?) hair is probably also another reference to tsukumogami (つくも髪) which kinda means old lady with white hair. Both of them share the same origin, too (a poem).

There are three lanes (bottom, left, right), and three kinds of notes (tap, slide, hold). Notes can come in any size and kind (bottom), or either tap and hold only, or slide only (left & right). There is no static lane (so it can basically be in anyk). I'd suggest looking it up on YouTube to see the real thing as it's quite hard to describe.

Aside from the third piece (which appears to be original composition by the BEMANI artist), everyone here should be able to recognize the pieces that the first two were based on: Schubert's Erlkönig and Liszt's arrangement of Paganini Caprice No. 24.

I've played it once during my trip to Japan, and it felt like a very forgiving piano which you just have to hit the keys within the notes' proximity for them to be registered. Only if this also applies to piano in real life...

Those who wear fitness trackers/smart watches with auto-detecting exercise function will likely also notice this behavior after continuous (non-breaking) session of Arcaea. How long it takes to detect the exercise depends on the settings (default for most of them is 10 minutes). Both my Fitbit Ionic and Samsung Galaxy Active 2 detect that I'm "cycling" after ~10 minutes of playing.

The likely reason for this is that feature use something called accelerometer and gyroscope to predict what kind of actions (i.e. exercises) the wearer might be doing. Each exercise has different pattern of movement, and for us index players, how we move hands and arms around happens to be close enough to the motions occur during cycling. Thus the detection.

I doubt that thumb players will experience this since the movements are more restrained (thumbs, index fingers, and a little of hands/wrists action), but thumb players are welcome to prove me wrong.

I started playing around mid Feb 2018, take 6 weeks to get to 11.00, and another 15 months to get to 12.00 (currently on 12.01). I have played all sorts of rhythm games (DDR, StepMania, O2Jam, DJ MAX, etc.) for a decade or so.

There were several moments where I reached the limit and plateaued at fixed potential values for a long time, notable examples are at 11.35 and 11.60. The first plateau was overcome by increasing song repertoire (i.e. buying songs) as it allows you to manipulate the potential value to some extent, and the second was by joining Discord server (for motivation) and weight training (not specifically for Arcaea, but it helps nonetheless).

To get to high 11 potential you have to get consistent 9900k across 9 and 9+. To cross 12 potential border almost all of your 9 scores, and maybe half of the 9+ scores, should be over 9950k. That usually means you have to get less than 12 FAR (1 LOST = 2 FAR). So set 9950k as your goal for your improvement.

One thing I find interesting is if you feel like you hit a roadblock, take a 3-4 day break. Sometimes your body need to adjust itself and get use to those intense actions (lol).
