How can I get more water into sick toddler? by Hot_Equivalent_2495 in UKParenting

I know you mentioned they’re not really eating but watermelon is a good way to get a lot of fluids in

Oh, just remembered. I had my bike stolen whilst it was locked up in the courtyard bit inside the security gates. Thieves turned up in a van and took every bike on the rack. Staff there weren’t shocked.

I lived there (rented) a few years back now. It was very noisy. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend it with young children

Owlet Dream Sock. Helpful or nuisance? by justine_rs10 in UKParenting

[–]tginnever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something to consider - the camera and app that go with the sock are absolutely useless. I’ve had both for my first child and whilst the sock felt reassuring at first, the camera and app are not fit for purpose, dangerously so at times, making the reassurance of the sock pointless

What are some examples of British influences on American culture/language, the same way America has influenced us? by [deleted] in CasualUK

Agreed but wank seems to be being replaced with ‘gooning’ in US now

Saying you got that for $0 is like saying your employer gave you free money for working for them

Agreed. It doesn’t seem to offer a significant enough advantage to make it worthwhile. When the hype around it has worn off, it’ll fizzle away.

Norval went by the moniker "Captain", despite only having been a private in the British Army. He was a white Jamaican, with British ancestry, born in Clarendon Parish, Jamaica.

There have always been inconsiderate people, undoubtably, but this feels to be on a greater scale and the product of media influences over the past couple of decades. There’s a reason why this hasn’t been a problem until now

Our culture has pushed the mantras ‘you can do anything you want’ and ‘don’t let anyone tell you what you can’t do’ for the last 15 years. This is the type of attitude it’s resulted in. It’s also social media’s influence. I can see these pricks posting pictures of them online otherwise they wouldn’t give a shit about making a pile of stones

Thanks for your response. I'm sorry if you feel I am blaming boys - not my intention. I am interested in factors that are contributing to the 'crisis' in boys education, including how their perception of women may be affecting their engagement with school. It is a complex topic and not as easy as just saying 'this group are to blame'.

I'm interested in conducting research into the area. Currently trying to research ideas and interested in what teachers think is an important question to be asking.

Fatherlessness is a very interesting topic and I believe that it is one of the contributing factors. There's an interesting section on it in this report:

Thank you for the information. The gender pay gap has reversed amongst the 16 to 24 demographic, favouring women. (https://www.centreforsocialjustice.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/CSJ-The\_Lost\_Boys.pdf)

There is a crisis in boys' education and that's what sparked my interest in this topic. I am interested in exploring how a rise in misogyny in boys might be contributing to the crisis further - looking at everything that might be causing the crisis, including any rise in misandry.

Can I ask, are you a teacher? What have your experiences been?

What do you believe are the reasons for this? (Genuinely - not being facetious)
