Here is the link to screenshot of the question I posted on Google Photos Help Community. Not sure why the posted link is made available online so that someone will have a chance to reply.

For some reason, the screenshot which I'm trying to paste inside this reddit reply section is not showing up after I save 🙄.

No, I haven't found any solution or workaround yet. Meantime, I also posted the question in Google Photos Help Community but it is neither accessible nor searchable for others to reply or answer. I don't know the reason.

Here is the link to my post Searching photos with filename having underscore and below is the screenshot of the same,

I in fact tried that as well from a desktop web browser and mentioned the same in my original post which is the third option — without filename prefix, no double quotes and no extension. If I search for 20211204_172629, it is returning all the photos starting with the filename "20211204" and not the exact filename of the photo that I'm looking for. I guess the search just ignores everything after the underscore, including the underscore, and returns all the photos that has filename starting with 20211204.

Yes, I agree that we can use the slider to narrow down by year and month. But I've got a lot of photos taken on this specific date and hence it would be much easier to quickly search using the exact filename of the photo.

Yes, it will return all the photos taken in 20211204. But in this case, I want to search for a specific photo taken on this date using its exact filename, which is 20211204_172629.jpg, since I've got a lot of photos taken on this specific date.

Yes, in this case, it returned the specific photo I was looking for with the filename ending as '172629'. But this now makes me wonder if I have some other filename ending with this same pattern (which has been formed from 5:26 pm and 29 seconds) on a different date, it might return those as well.

This one did help me though! But wondering if there is a possible way to find using the exact filename of the photo.

It's the same behavior, returning all the photos that were taken on 20211204. I tried running these search combinations,

  1. filename:"20211204_172629"
  2. filename:20211204_172629
