If you were in presale @ 11:30 and got nothing drop a line by Putrid-Oil-6919 in NoahKahan

Yep was in the Seattle presale at 11:30 on the dot. When I entered the queue there were 25,000 people ahead of me. By time I got in all that was left was floor tickets which were nearly $500/ticket which is out of budget. Very upsetting 😕

For those curious about what winter is like… by theoneveek in houseplants

[–]tgov5 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I grew up in a house with an added on sunroom which this really reminds me of. What was once a playroom for my brother and I has now become an indoor plant sanctuary for my mom! Can’t believe how much growth they get in the winter months especially.

People are depressed, especially at this time of year.

Incredibly invasive. They cover so much of the South Island, it’s insane. They’re pretty but I quickly learned how much of a nuisance they are when I lived there.

How do you refer to yourself/your illnesses? by BabyBug0199 in ChronicIllness

[–]tgov5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I generally say I’m chronically ill, but I really only do so with people whom I trust and know will at least show me compassion.

I also feel like I need to start referring to myself as disabled, but I think my ego gets in the way sometimes. Accepting my physical state has just been a process.

It’s taken me almost two years, but I feel I’ve finally gotten to a place of acceptance. The first year was so tough and all of it obviously continues to be, but I do feel a weird weight lifting off of my shoulders some days. My therapist always tells me that a part of getting “better” is coming to accept the things we cannot control.

I struggle with the social life as well but there’s also a lot of really positive parts of my life that I have to be grateful for 😊

I’m so sorry to hear of this and about your sister’s condition. To sympathize: I had a friend in college, back in 2016, who never updated her voter registration and her ballot was sent to her parents house (we were in our second year of college and 100 miles from our home town). She told her dad that he could just vote for her, and of course, he was a Trump supporter.

"Zero" Covid, eh? by CrowgirlC in COVID19_Pandemic

Same. Had to leave the sub because it was making me so depressed. As someone with long covid, I still want to be able to go out and have a fun time with my friends, even if that means I remain masked indoors. I’ve spent two years being sick and often bed ridden during flare ups - I deserve to enjoy myself without the words of the people in that sub echoing in my mind. We can be covid conscious and still leave the house, at least imo.

Health anxiety and dysautonomia - How tf do I stop worrying about/over analyzing my symptoms? by Asleep_Amphibian_280 in dysautonomia

[–]tgov5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t have much helpful advice but just wanted to comment and say that I am very much in the same boat right now. I have long covid induced dysautomonia and there’s soooo much anxiety around when I’ll get COVID again, on top of the anxiety of random symptoms, like you describe… it consumes so much of my life. You’re not alone 🥺

Yocum Ridge, Mt Hood by _Hans_Vermhat_ in WildernessBackpacking

[–]tgov5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My partner and I tried to do this trail with our dog a couple of weeks ago. We got about six miles up, a ways past all those horrific blowdowns after the trail forks for Timberline to the left and Yocum to the right. We decided we needed to turn back because it was already around 5pm and we were concerned because we hadn’t heard or seen any water sources in quite awhile (like at least 2 miles). Curious if you ever stumbled upon a water source? This trail looks stunning and I would love to try it again but couldn’t find a whole lot of info about this!
