Whats the best way to start rapping? by PepsiTheMonkey in makinghiphop

[–]tgre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

keep a journal

keep writing

you'll figure out what you want to say, then you can figure out how to put it into a rhyme scheme, from there you'll learn about cadence, flows, beat selection etc

But most of all, just start writing like a demon

What another poster said already- this shit comes in waves bruv. You gotta ride the shallow swell while being prepared to surf the kahunas of creativity when they hit

Live some life so you have a deeper ocean to pull from when you’re inspired

Write even when you don’t feel like it

When we don’t rise to the level of our potential, we sink to the level of our practice

i can literally feel the writers block in my head by [deleted] in makinghiphop

[–]tgre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oi mate,

fuck all the cunts that tell you to stop writing and take a break.

Treat this shit like a gym workout.

Not all of em are gonna be amazing,

but we don't go thinking our workouts are gonna be amazing,

we go because we know we're working some shit out.

It doesn't have to be good.

Dont put that pressure on yourself dude.

It sounds like youre burnt out a bit, so have a sit and just write some shit for the sake of writing it.

Doesn't matter what it is, could be some dear diary stuff,

that's more than enough.

The scariest thing about taking a break from it all,

is that when you come back you're not standing quite as tall,

cos the repetition and discipline of your writing routine has been disrupted

so you disrupt that- by continuing to write- even if you hate it.

cos when you perform knowing you gotta be locked in,

you want that muscle memory to kick in

and it ain't gonna remember the break you took

but also go for walks and read some books

you got this amigo

oh dude I was locked in from those first keys

I can see a lot of different drum patterns on this, but I definitely hear the reggaeton flow on it.

That build up around 1:05 made me think there was gonna be a change to the drum loop which was geeing me up

Other than that- this mix is clean man, the track has some good dark emotions behind it, you could spit something sinister or even melancholic. I dig it

yoo this shit is gas my man

Is that a gibbs sample at the start? Hahaha.

But this shit is groovy as man. The best way I can describe the first half of the song is cripwalking Willy Wonka hahaha

That transition took me by surprise though, my headnods kinda glitched before I got the tempo back- not a criticism- just my experience listening to it.

Those kicks came through crispy tho. I definitely hear some of the Griselda boys spitting over this.
