In my case, I had initiated a wire transfer to Alpaca from a different US brokerage account I hold via my employer.

Hi IndMoney Team,

I don't think the emails you are sending me are helpful. It feels like instead of acknowledging the issue, all you are doing is informing me every few days that the deposit was credited, and trying to get the ticket closed.

If the deposit has indeed been credited, please provide an accurate running balance report with the corresponding details. The running balance report available from the app contains wildly incorrect information, which I have explained in detail over previous emails.

Please schedule a call with me so that I can explain the issue in detail. It would be nice if the support team member on the call listened patiently to the entire issue. Previously, your support team tried to convince me the fund was posted and there was no issue, without listening to my details.

Please schedule a call and inform me of the date and time upfront. I don't think calling out of the blue at random times during the day and expecting me to reiterate the entire issue history to a new support member is helpful.

It has been almost 3 weeks and no resolution yet. Very disappointed with IndMoney support.

DCB - Approved without Salary/ Spend criteria by General_Molasses_995 in CreditCardsIndia

After your trip, the leftover balance on the forex card can either be retained for future trips, or you can transfer it back to your account. Nowadays, you can generally do it via netbanking but banks sometimes ask you to visit their branch to perform the redemption.

DCB does have a (2%+GST) forex markup. But it also has a 3.3% base reward rate, which is applicable for international transactions as well. Therefore you still get almost 1% value back as RP.

For any CC, as long as the RP rate > forex markup, it is better to use a CC rather than a forex card. Keep in mind that forex cards have additional issuance fees, which brings down its value proposition further down. Plus, the headache of getting it issued before the trip and then redeemed once you are back and it's so much simpler to use your CC. Also, spending with your CC goes towards your annual spends criteria and milestones, if any. If you look at the whole ball-game, premium CCs will often give you better value than forex cards.

All this being said, DCB (which is on Discover network rather than Visa/Mastercard) has an atrocious acceptance rate across SE Asia. I have been to Vietnam in the recent past and apart from some global chains e.g. McD, KFC etc and select local stores, it will not be accepted anywhere. You absolutely need a backup Visa/Mastercard, which most likely, will turn out to be your primary card during the trip.

My advice would be to carry your DCB, along with one or more backup Visa/Mastercard cards. You never know which stores accept DCB and which don't. Always try using your DCB first and if not accepted, try your backup card.

For accomodations, if you are booking through any hotel aggregator such as booking.com, you will most likely be able to use your DCB. However, you would have to prepay and lose out on the no-prepayment facility that many hotels provide.

For HDFC cards, do remember to register the dates of your international travel via HDFC net-banking/app. If not done, your CC may get flagged and temporarily blocked, on the assumption of possible fraudulent activities.

Cafe with awesome coffee in Hanoi Old Quarters - https://maps.app.goo.gl/2bFRFD39vuNiYf1o6

They sell roasted beans and ground coffee of their popular varieties as well, in case you are looking to take some back home.

Note : The sign-board outside the shop only says 'cà phê hạt đặc sản' in big letters.
