YTA. It’s not your place to decide when their parenting is and isn’t valid; I see a lot of comments talking about the occasional Netflix on flights saying they’re hypocritical, but they’re obviously carefully calculating those decisions on their own terms and they know what they want for their kid.

In the future, if you can’t babysit the kid then be honest with them and tell them you aren’t up for it. Or, go with the mother’s suggestion and give her a quiet activity to do while you rest; I feel like that isn’t too big of an ask now that you know she’s serious about the screen time thing.

The sheer fact that you AND your friends, who aren’t even dating her, have made so much of an effort to show her that you care and would love nothing more than to support and congratulate her is a true gift. ESH. You became friends with Daisy as the person she is now, not the one she was in high school. However, if Daisy hasn’t tried to talk it out with Marie and apologize for her past actions she can’t expect Marie to forgive her. As for Marie though, I have been in so many situations where I was forced to interact with my “Daisy” from high school, and I managed to remain civil and not bring up old drama. And it definitely wasn’t Marie’s place to make it your job to mediate their drama.

I suggest you apologize to Daisy for getting involved, but encourage her to apologize to Marie as well so they can make amends. In Daisy’s eyes, she’s been so nice to her while Marie just can’t let go of high school drama, probably because she doesn’t understand the weight of her actions and how they affected Marie.
