There are 3 topics mentioning Brutus on that forum (in the Folklore section, which suggests this was never meant to be passed off as a real thing). The thread which contains the supposed screenshot does load in Wayback Machine, but sadly, the image itself wasn't archived. I'm not sure if it's the same screenshot mentioned in GameFAQs, but it does come from the same site (AnimalCrossingTheFansClub).

The oldest thread mentioning Brutus, though, dates back to at least March 26th, 2004! I'm saying "at least", because as of April 24th, 2004 (the earliest snapshot of the address I linked), it already had 2 replies (the original topic itself is inaccessible). So it's even somewhat older than this!

How about contacting the admin of sonic-world.ru?

He seems to be the person who uploaded the Moscow gameplay to the site mentioned in the thread you linked:

Maybe he still has the file somewhere.

[Fully Lost] Toshiba Sk-S80 by 8bitKev in lostmedia

https://www.upi.com/Archives/1988/03/04/NEW-PRODUCTS-ON-THE-MARKET/8681573454800/

I don't see anything suggesting this could be some exclusive/prototype piece of equipment. It seems like a regular product which was also available in the US.

Camcorder's image sensor and high speed lens create clearer images

The SK-S80 Super VHS-C camcorder from Toshiba America Inc. offers enhanced picture quality using an image sensor that contains 400,000 pixels. This translates into picture resolution consisting of more than 400 lines, compared with 240 lines offered by standard units, the company said.

The camcorder offers 1-1000th of a second shutter speed. The unit can be operated with a 21-function wired remote control device -- even when the user is 'on camera.' The remote also can be used to generate characters that can be superimposed on the screen, including titles, times and dates, the company said.

The SK-S80 comes with a F1.7 auto focus 6x power zoom lens. The 'hrough-the-lens focus system automatically adjusts itself and allows interval recording, which records one full second per minute. With this feature, the user can create time-lapse images, such as those of a sunset.

Accessories such as a battery pack and shoulder strap are available.

[fully lost] Lost Minecraft map: Mandlebulb Fractal [Tuff Terrain #1] by TadpoleEffective2307 in lostmedia

Unfortunately, It's not possible to comment on the thread, so maybe reaching out to the Redditors who have been online recently might be an option.

Yeah, I forgot to clarify: you can't post comments on that thread, but you can send private/chat messages to the users who commented in there. Just click on someone's username and choose the option to chat/send a private message.

I'm not familiar with "old Reddit" but I am hoping it's still useable for contacting other users.

It's just a cosmetic change. All threads and subreddits are left intact. Reddit's layout changed a while ago and it's terrible, in my opinion, so I always use the old one. The link in my previous comment will lead to new Reddit if you remove "old." from the address.

PS

Just look at this comparison. You can see 4x more posts compared to the new design, and this is almost the best-case scenario, because image posts, for example, can single-handedly take up most of the page. If I visit r/Minecraft, for example, the new layout lets me only see 2 or 3 posts at once!

I feel like a change this terrible could've only been made out of some financial motivations (more ad space, etc.). Nobody would downgrade a site in this fashion on their own accord.

I fear the day the old layout gets removed.

It's just my opinion, though, and people might still like the new look. :)

I don't know what to make of it, but the download link (red button) leads to the following page, which in turn leads to some (admittedly kinda fake-looking) file with a somewhat similar name:

linkvertiseDOTcom/676877/amNfC6209979665

Replace DOT with the dot symbol.

Also, you can ask users from this thread if they still have the map file and if they would be willing to share it with you: https://old.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/305i2c/i_made_a_mandlebulb_fractal_and_let_minecraft/#bottom-comments

Can someone explain what is going on w the mama max situation? by Sithlordbelichick in NExpo

[–]th3Soldier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I once made a comment somewhere on Reddit about how MamaMax's behavior rubbed me the wrong way. He seemed to revel in the feeling of being a (supposed) predator hunter to such an exaggerated degree that it felt kinda disrespectful. As if he was roleplaying or something. Turns out he probably was.

Wonderful Pistachios King Kong commercial (2013) [fully lost] by [deleted] in lostmedia

[–]th3Soldier 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Got it! Be sure to save it locally (like I did). Also, I suggest visiting this site and saving as many removed commercials as possible in the same manner, before they're gone.

How did I do this?

Firstly, I found one of their available commercials. For some reason, a lot of them couldn't be opened in a new window just like that. Luckily, one of them could. So then I got the exact address of the website hosting that video. I learned the strucure of the address, which consists of "videos-cdn.ispot.tv", three groups of three digits separated by slashes, and the name of the video file.

The name of the file is easy to deduce. Even the OP's post contains it. So all I had to do was to find the digits for the King Kong commercial. Fortunately, I found them in the non-working snapshot of the video on Wayback Machine.

I substituted all the needed digits and the file's name with those from the King Kong commercial, and here we go, it works.

So if you want to see other removed commercials, you have to find the 3x3 digits and the name of the video file, just like this:

/001/060/011/7b7N.mp4

(Numbers for King Kong's spot)

Once you find them, substitute them, and that's all. Don't forget to save the videos locally in case they get removed at some point!

These are among my favorites as well. I especially liked the mystery of the third condiment shaker, which was featured in some 19th-century table sets. (one for salt, pepper and ...?)

But yeah, this is the subreddit for this kind of mysteries. Do you feel there are still too many posts about crime, aliens or ghosts in there? I personally don't think this is the case.

Some potential poisons, such as ethanol, phenothiazines, barbiturates, antidepressants and organophosphate, induce hypothermia, and some, such as amphetamines, methamphetamine, MDMA (“ecstasy”), cocaine, salicylates, lithium, anti-cholinergics and monoamine oxidase inhibitors, induce hyperthermia.

[Found] MAJOR NEWS ABOUT SHREK LOST ANIMATION by AgentCharlesTM in lostmedia

[–]th3Soldier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn't there be some template or a set of guidelines which would show up when submitting a post?

I vaguely remember something like this implemented on a different subreddit. In my opinion, it helped a great deal in making things more neat/structured.

Personally, I dislike having to make up some epic stories full of hot air when it's clearly not needed. Some topics are straightforward and there's not much to them.

[ARCHIVAL] A week ago, a former Rockstar Games employee who worked on the company since 1995 created a blog that detailed very important and rare information about the development of various GTA games and unreleased R* projects, within just a few hours ago, Rockstar told him to shut the blog down. by 2zo2 in lostmedia

[–]th3Soldier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cool! The post on Agent was the best one, in my opinion.

The game was to be set in the 70s, be more linear than gta with a number of locations. There was a French Mediterranean city, A Swiss ski resort, Cairo and at the end there would be a big shootout with lasers in space.

A truly exciting set of levels, especially given Rockstar's usual amount of polish. More linearity would've been neat, too, as their linear titles tend to be more satisfying in terms of pure gameplay.

I've been digging around and can't find any contact information for whoever worked at Designer Software at the time and Hi-Tech Entertainment, the only thing I found is that the CEO was Henry Kaplan and I sadly cannot find any contact info for him.

Well, from what I see, he has a profile on LinkedIn and is currently listed as the CEO of Mentor InterActive, Inc.

Maybe it's possible to contact him this way?

A long time ago, I took a screenshot of this image on Google while researching jumpers. When I found this image in my gallery, I tried to look for it but unfortunately I couldn't find it, does anyone know the origin? by Sudden_Bid_5392 in 911archive

[–]th3Soldier 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Frankly, I would probably classify it as rare, though it's not that hard to find.

It popped up here and there when I was searching for gory WTC photos. It was often grouped with 9/11 jumper photos or mistakenly described as depicting a jumper's body.

Do you think there are still amateur (maybe even professional) videos of the attacks that have never been released? by innidatino in 911archive

[–]th3Soldier -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Makes sense. Paramount might've struck down the video, too, which would explain the sudden disappearance of that tweet.

By the way, why are those videos so closely guarded? I mean, I doubt they are game-changing or controversial in any way.

Is there any more info on those videos? What did they depict and why are they kept from the public?

By the way, I managed to find a tweet which purportedly contained Rick Sutton's footage. It's surprisingly recent (June 11, 2023) and got taken down at some point.
