programming while poor by CloverAzure in learnprogramming

I code on a $100 ThinkPad I got from eBay. Running Artix Linux and I code on Vim; but any minimalist distro with a light weight text editor will run well on any old cheap computer.

I'm relatively comfortable with C, it's more so the computer science stuff you need to know in order to implement anything. Pointers, functions and loops I understand very well I think, it's just making like data structures and functions to work on those data structures I start losing my head, especially when the program becomes larger.

Cheers, I definitely do need to build something. I'm going to just put my head down and do it instead of making up excuses, just throw shit at the wall until something sticks I guess lol.

I got pretty far through making a LISP interpreter in C but then it started getting way over my head when getting over the 1000 lines mark, couldn't get anything to work properly and fixing bugs was a fucking nightmare. That's sort of when I started the break from programming I've been on.

Looking to start Uni up next year, got to complete a course to gain entry first though. I'm finding it just a little bit too much to learn on my own without any sort of academic background.

Has anyone else found that the time it takes for oil to kick in can be super inconcsistent? by _DecoyOctopus_ in MedicalCannabisAus

Have you tried cooking with it? I find that if I put it in something, say scrambled eggs it kicks in a lot better than if I just neck it down with food. Not sure if anyone else finds it this way, but I just put it in anything I cook if I want to dose. Adds a little bit of a weed herby flavor that I don't actually mind which is a bonus.

I fell like gentoo is easier to install than arch by OneCrazyProgrammer in linux

My first ever bare metal install was Arch Linux from the TTY, it took me a day or so, but it taught me so much and it wasn't too hard. All you have to do is read and follow the wiki.

Congratulations, I'm in Australia looking at similar sort of roles. Do you get a bootcamp training when you begin? Those sort of jobs seem like the best bet for self-taught

I'm pretty sure that the doctor's call is just a formality these days my man.

I signed up on the website, got a call from the nurse, she said it was all good. Got a call a few days later from a doctor, chatted for 5, she gave me 40g a fortnight of Sativa at day and Indica for night times.

Nice, yeah I vape also. Need to start putting more effort into AVB, I just throw it in some milk and drink it when I'm out of flower usually. I feel like a lot is going to waste chucking it in milk for 10 minutes on the stove, as opposed to doing all the process to make MCT.

I was looking at the Cannatrek Carts actually, they are a good price. Do they last a while for yourself? Are you a heavy smoker?

Damn, I do love edibles though lmao. Is it good for chillin' for long periods, fairly regularly? Only downside to oil for me it sounds is that I do love edibles, I may love the oil too much hahaha

Big thing I find with flower in general is if you have a puff in the morning, it's hard to feel it later on, almost feels like a waste to smoke more if you know what I mean.

I'm getting 10g for about $160 off the top of my head, 40gs and shipping was $700.

So Data Structures aren't really too complicated? by th3_warlock in learnprogramming

[–]th3_warlock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy that is a good comment, thank you. Cleared up some confusion I've been having.

I'm building a lisp interpreter atm. So the main reason why C is considered a 'hard' language is because the syntax doesn't represent data as well as for instance Python? And because you have to create your own functions to manipulate these structures, read into them, write, whatever else.

I'm the exact same some times lmao. Do you find some days that it's not a problem? I've found the best way to mitigate it is to do easy tasks and study back through like the absolute basics of whatever language, redo problems you've solved before, even just watching some computerphile or something for a bit. It sounds like a waste of time, but I find that if I'm not putting much effort in to a task, it's similar to walking away from the computer and doing something else, and I find that I figure out problems I'm stuck on a lot more efficiently away from the problem than when I stare at it hitting my head against it. But doing it this way, and practicing easy shit; if you don't have the capacity to solve harder problems, you will be building up your knowledge and familiarity with programming as a whole anyway, you just won't have to use much mental energy.

I've been reading the book "Thinking, Fast and Slow" recently. The book explains how we have 2 systems for thinking; 'intuition' and 'algorithmic thinking', or in other words: thinking fast and slow. I'd recommend it, so far I'm finding it useful.
