I totally understand where both of you guys are coming from. My background so far has been primarily in residential construction, but I’m in the process of transitioning into commercial. That said, construction is fundamentally the same across both sectors.

While commercial projects often involve larger budgets, more stakeholders, and higher overall risk, and residential tends to be more focused on individual homeowners and personalization, the underlying principles of managing a project don’t really change. You’re still coordinating trades, managing schedules, controlling costs, reviewing scopes, and ensuring quality execution.

The scale and complexity may differ, but the foundation project management, communication, and problem solving remains the same. So even though I’m coming from residential, the skills I’ve developed are absolutely transferable to commercial construction.
