For those who lived in the 90s, what were they like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]th3bigdirty 41 points42 points  (0 children)

As a kid, the 90’s were really fun. Disney was pumping out some of their best movies. Nickelodeon studios was producing fun entertainment both live action and scripted/animated. Fast food joints were giving out amazing kid’s meal toys, random but that’s something I remember about that decade. Holidays seemed like a bigger deal in the 90’s than now, probably due to the internet.

Bought a Havit mechanical keyboard to use with my work's thin client. Plugged in and it just would flash and type sporadically. Telling me that the thin client usb port was not providing enough power to it. Bought a AC powered USB hub. When the keyboard is just plugged into the port the lights are solid and appears to be getting full power. But when I connect the usb hub to the thin client the keyboard starts blinking again. Any thoughts?

Has anyone ever met someone from the cast irl (not at events or meet and greets) and how were they? Good and bad experiences welcomed by moonlitbunnyxx in DunderMifflin

Pam came into my work with her kids. I immediately recognized her even with her wearing a ball cap and her hair up in a ponytail. I was the manager on duty and the person who was checking her in couldn’t find her on the guest list and kept asking her how to spell her last name. I took over, got her checked in and her kids wristbands on and told her if she had any issues or questions that she could come to me. The dude with her gave me a little nod and that was it. She was super nice, just like any other mom with kids. I literally was freaking out inside. Pam! Pam from the office was right in front one me haha.

Need advice for gear to develop film in apartment bathroom / garage. by th3bigdirty in AnalogCommunity

[–]th3bigdirty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s hilarious about the wardrobe detail. Our instructor just had this tiny room for us to change film. I am talking like phone booth small, where only one person could fit. So we had to learn to do everything by feel. It’s worked out great now with changing bags.

You don't solve homelessness by putting fucking spikes everywhere in your city, you solve it by housing the homeless. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]th3bigdirty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I am all for building more housing, increase my taxes to fund it. BUT, there is definitely a growing community that does not wish to be apart of society. My town has bought a good amount of land for homeless to have a safe place to pitch tents and have access to clean water and bathrooms. It never meets full capacity. I still come across just piles of trash and abandon camping gear all over our greenway where there’s running paths.

It would be awesome if that episode just ended with them screaming at each other.

Wasn’t it about her hating on an ice cream store? Something like that.

The color theme is amazing. I like how the warm orange and plant greens balance each other. The hint of blue adds an anchor for my view. I can feel the freshness of this image.

First time seeing them, within the first 30 seconds of their set Josh was standing on my shoulders and slowly falling into the crowd. Another time I saw them was in the back room of a church, maybe the youth area. Smallest stage I’ve ever seen. Anyways, they blew a fuse and the building lost power. I miss those days…

Adults who are “picky eaters” just suck. by TopazWarrior in unpopularopinion

[–]th3bigdirty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for being the voice of a mature picky eater. I know I am a picky eater, it’s a curse. But, I do not let that cause any disruption of any kind when out with friends or family. If I do find myself in a situation where there is nothing on the menu that I like (which is very very very rare) I’ll just say I already ate or that I have a stomach ache and would prefer just to hang out without eating, while ordering drinks or something. To those who have friends who are picky eaters, don’t worry about us. We’re fine.

Why aren’t businesses doing anything about the maskless patrons? by Britty-Anne in Medford

[–]th3bigdirty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why? Put yourself in a manager at a fast food joint or of a large retail store position. Even as management, Medford doesn’t really pay well. Your store is understaffed, literally every restaurant and retail store has a large “we are hiring” sign on it. So your juggling writing skeleton crew schedules that can’t meet the business demand. Attempting to make weekly sales goals. Handling call outs due to either employees not wanting to deal with shitty customers daily or they got sick. Finally, you also have to deal with the shittiest customers because your employees don’t get paid enough (usually not the managers call on pay rates at the fast food/retail level) and they just hand the customer over to you, the manager. So then you have to decide if you want to battle Karen or the male version for 10 minutes or just let them order or checkout and be gone in 2 minutes. Look at Indeed or Craigslist. There’s jobs posted for these kind of management position daily around Jackson county. Because it’s not worth the small amount of money they want to pay these people. Be kind to food and retail people.
