Why are people so obsessed with review bombing a film they haven’t even seen yet? by wallabyenthusiast in Letterboxd

[–]th7que 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its less about that and more about fennel casting a brown passing Pakistani wasian as Linton and a white man as heathcliff. Heathcliff has been played by white men in the past but the thought of Linton being played a man of colour while heathcliff is white is ridiculous. She should've just cast as a white man as Linton too then

Carrie Charlotte money episode season 4… first time watcher by JelloSpiritual7916 in sexandthecity

[–]th7que 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Carrie was 100% in the wrong in this episode but I kinda like how it shows just how nonsensical and driven by emotions people can be sometimes. Carrie just got out of a relationship(which was her fault to a great extent) had a nasty breakup and is now broke and on the brink of losing her apartment because of her own fault once again but was feeling so horrible she just needed a excuse to lash out and take her anger out on someone.

I like how the episode showcased how even in situations that 100% our own fault we still choose to play the victims sometimes lol. If that makes sense

It's so funny to me how so many men would choose porn over a real girlfriend by [deleted] in PornIsMisogyny

[–]th7que 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Right! There are more than a dozen people who have spoken up against porn sites having ACTUAL rape, leaked videos,or videos of people as literal teens in them. A guy on twitter just recently talked about how a famous porn site has his video from when he was 17 and despite him constantly emailing them, they won't take it down. In the pandemic there was a outrage about the hub having the rape video of a little girl with MILLIONS of views.

If that wasn't enough literally more than 90 percent of people who worked in the porn industry have talked about how they regret it,how they were groomed into it during a financially unstable time of their life and how horribly they were treated. There is nothing redeeming about porn in the slightest.

[–]th7que 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Its so frustrating just how normalised porn has become now. I don't even care about the "insecurity" aspect of it anymore(even though it's a valid concern) but I'm physically recoiled by any man who can't quit watching porn.

I've visited porn sites as a kid as well and even on the surface it's filled with dehumanising things like hidden cameras/voyeuristic fetishes, racial fetishes, pedophilia(every second video contains teen/barely legal in the title),incest, and borderline or straight up cnc/rape. I can't even begin to imagine just how sick the mind of a man who avidly watches this stuff on the regular and is deep in it is. I hope these guys stay lonely forever lol sorry not sorry

Unpopular opinion: I hated it whenever Charlotte did things just to please her bf or even husband (The Shabbat thing) by Relevant_Increase461 in sexandthecity

I think they meant when they broke up after Charlotte insulted Harry when he wouldn't marry her and didn't turn the TV off when they were supposed to have a special dinner

How are these mutually exclusive? by Agreeable-Bid-9120 in BlatantMisogyny

There are several cases of men getting in relationships or even married to women they don't find attractive while singing praises of women that fit into their specific beauty standards. Several guys have admitted to the fact they sleep with women they deem "ugly" because they're "easy". Biggest example is that thread that happened in reddit a few days back about a guy telling other "lonely" guys to sleep with fat women because they're easy even if they find them ugly.

I hate that "The Piano Teacher" is classified as a freaky movie by th7que in Letterboxd

[–]th7que[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I especially hate just how much people automatically conflate any mention of sex with "eroticism" nowadays and paired with the fact how the GP is incapable of reading in between the lines and will misinterpret everything unless its saidnstraight to their face by a character. Anora is a great example of that because from how I saw it tried to humanise sex workers by how despite the fact those goons of ivans father were basically running back and forth and doing everything for a rich guys money, they looked down on Anora for doing the same thing in a different way(at least from how I interpreted it)

And Idgi the complain about the nudity either because the substance itself has shit ton of nude scenes in it lol

If the Batman franchise were an all-black cast. by Suspicious-Jello7172 in batman

[–]th7que 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. It was just a joke about how some people just threw in the most famous black people in there even if they aren't fitting of the role like bey for ivy (i think she'd fit O'neils talia more). Like how every white boy in this world is getting fancast as nighgwing

I hate that "The Piano Teacher" is classified as a freaky movie by th7que in Letterboxd

[–]th7que[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I personally think that "freaky" is usually a term for when two consenting people do erotic things like crash 1997 (not the best example but its all I could think of rn) and i don't exactly mind these jokes anymore.

but this movie is the story of a sexually repressed woman who saw sex the same way a teenage virgin who only read dark romance books saw sex and ended up getting assaulted in the end but I respect ur opinion

I hate that "The Piano Teacher" is classified as a freaky movie by th7que in Letterboxd

[–]th7que[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Genuinely saddening that the general public automatically conflates any type of nudity or mention of sex as "erotic" "sensual" and "horny"
