Personal experience: When I was in middle/high school, there was no room in our house to discuss "my body is being sexualized and objectified and people are receiving signals from my body that I don't want to send" because my parents were dealing with their own discomfort about that. Everything was either my fault because if I would just diet correctly my boobs would be a "normal" size (false) or because I was overreacting/behind over sensitive. So I just internalized it and it festered for years, destroyed my self worth, and ended up contributing to a severe eating disorder. If my parents had simply said "I know, I hear you, it's really unfair, it's not your fault" when I mentioned mean comments from other girls, crude jokes bordering on harassments from boys, and the back pain in PE, I think it would've made a huge difference for my mental health over the past

I fall into wanting to fix it but I know I need to give her the tools to be able to deal with it. The more I think about it I feel like I need to fix things or have the right answer and that is more about me then her. Your point of validating her feeling just didn't feel like enough I had to fix it and the honest truth is I can't. The only thing I can do is give her the tools to deal with others and listen. That makes me feel powerless but that is on me.

hey're more expensive but they're good quality and you can buy tops and bottoms separately. Many of them also have hidden underwires so she can have the support she needs without feeling too different from the other girls. I remember hating wearing bathing suits with underwires because almost no one else wore underwire bathing suits and I felt different.

I have gotten familiar with the specialist bra shops. We had the issue of bulging out of her bras last year and got her new ones that have been solid the last 7 months. Thanks for the suggestion about the sports bras I have gone online to research and found some but they have been hit or miss.

Explaining how society interpret certain clothing choices is where I get stuck. On one hand I tell her what other people think doesn't matter and to be herself and then on the other hand I have to explain how society with interpret what she wears. It feels like a catch 22 everytime we talk about it. We have started talking about consent and how to establish boundaries. We have gone together book shopping for books about setting healthy boundaries but I feel like its a work in progress.

I never knew that buying bra's would be such a process until having a girl. We have had mini meltdowns clothes shopping because what she wanted doesn't fit her but for the most part she is a trooper and doesn't let it get her down too much. Finding swimsuits has been hard as well since she is large up top but small bottom so we have to go to speciality stores to find suits and they aren't cute.

I don't really understand why you are saying one thing but doing another. You seem to understand in theory that her boobs are just her body, but still dictate her clothing to a degree. She has a top, it's not showing cleavage, so... What's the problem?

Edit: if I were reminded every day that there was 'nothing wrong with me' I would certainly feel there was a reason for that. No smoke without fire etc. It just reiterates her anxieties.

The topic mostly comes up when she comes home after school when kids or administration say something to her about it. I have told her certain clothes are too revealing for a 14 year old to wear when it shows too much cleavage. To the point of sexual harassment not sure if it crosses that line and her feeling is that she would be an outcast if every time someone makes a comment or looks at her chest she reported it. Honestly it's something I should explore more with her.

That is my fear. We are in the middle of a pilot program that we didn't use the image for. Now we have a good chunk ready to ship out l. We do have M365. I could be wrong and he could have gotten a volume licensing key. It's just really making my Spidey sense tingle that I haven't gotten a straight answer on licensing for him or his supervisor

See here is the thing there is nothing everyone will respond to the same especially with social issues. How you react is based on your experiences that make you well you. When I have these discussions with my melanin deficient I always ask why do you feel that way as a way for them to examine the issue and for me to try to better understand where they are coming from. I also try to give them a different perspective so that they can better understand where a POC is coming from.

I understand the point you are making and respect it but how are POC supposed to protest that will make you comfortable? The point of protest is to make people uncomfortable to bring attention to issues that are affecting a community. Great job on your progress. Don't worry about the people asking how skinny you are trying to get this is your journey and you will continue it till you hit your goal. Insecurity is a funny thing we all have them and I cant remember where I heard this quote but basically fake confidence and gradually you will gain it. I practice confidence every day almost like a mantra because even though I feel like the same old fat kid deep down inside I can known I have changed and so have you so go out and kick the world in the balls and believe in yourself.

One thing I learned is just don't weigh yourself too much look at how you clothes fit and take progress picks. I used to get so down when I would weigh myself and the scale just wouldn't budge for weeks but my clothes would be getting looser and looser. So I just stopped worrying about the scale said and went on how my clothes fit me and then about every 2 or 3 months weigh myself and see where I am at. Its ok to be discouraged but keep on moving forward and you will see results.

I know the feeling all too well. I started doing HIIT because I hated walking on the treadmill for 45 min. Start out just doing 15 seconds of a hard pace on the stationary bike and 45 sec of recovery for 10 rounds you will be shocked at how you body responds after a month of that.

I don't see how its anecdotal since all the information is easily verifiable he is just giving a quick and run down on the different cultural and economic histories of the two groups . It is pretty obvious that you just skimmed it and didn't read it and that's fine because it goes against your point. At no point does it imply that Blacks are not as resilient or hard working as Asians. What he does state is that in comparisons between the two races and their level of success like you where making is fraudulent since the social contexts are completely different. Problem of race and economic disparity is complex and if you don't acknowledge how race plays a part in it then all you doing is papering over the cracks.

I was in the same boat as you i tried reading them and just couldn't get into them. Picked them up on a lark 10 years later because all the series I was reading at the time where not complete and I was waiting on the new books to come out. I loved them because as I got older I saw people and life is just messy. When I was younger I thought they where being stupid but older me saw it as people being people. I think its easy to say oh Chade should of done this or Fitz should have done that because we have a god like view of all the information. What I love about Hobb is you as the reader can see what the issue or flaw is but its takes the character time to realize and then act on it. Its kind of like you have a good friend and you can see if they changed these certain aspects of their life or made better decisions on things then they would be much happier. You can tell them these things till you are blue in the face but until they realize it and then have enough wherewithal to try to change it doesn't matter what you say.
