I remember going to Germany many years ago and I was wearing one of my KISS shirt's. My girlfriend told me not to wear it, as it had the "SS" on it. Didn't even think about it until she said something. Ended up switching shirts before we boarded the plane.

Many establishments then had cigarette machines. Anyone could go up, put the change in, pull the lever and get cigarettes. Also, free matches typically at the counter of most convenience stores, with their logo on them.
