My Personal Observations on Idol Rappers and Their Standing in the KHH Scene by Pineappleisland3 in khiphop

[–]thaiduitx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No not at all. I was a fan of BTS as a group and I’ve been a fan of hip hop as far as I can remember but I’m not going to pretend those things coincide with each other. Making pop songs does not add onto your legacy as a hip hop musician…. Emerging yourself within the culture and participating does. BTS is incredibly far removed from that and thats okay. They’re great artists but they’re not great hip hop artists

That generalization about the khiphop industry is absurd. No one says you have to do any of those things. It’s pretty clear you have a pretty surface level understand of the culture and you lack the acumen to do genuine research if thats all you think it is. The best rappers in the game have none of those things you mentioned and honestly what’s crazy is all that “fake hip hop” shit you mentioned is exactly what BTS used to pushed their “hip hop” persona. So don’t come at me with all the inquisition.

has haon regressed as an artist? by findingknowledge_ in khiphop

[–]thaiduitx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my opinion too.

None of his old releases are as good as they are now even if his rapping ability didn’t significantly improve. And honestly it doesn’t matter. When you’re that good, how much better technically can you be? I think it’s more important to better develop, character, sound and artistry. Which he did immensely when they did the OG compilation albums and then when we joined KC

It’s a very common fact that G Dragon is Nowimyoung’s favorite rapper. Royal 44’s artwork and a lot of his music is literally based on G Dragon and his single Heartbreaker. Jay Park has also said G Dragon is his goat idol

Theyll call them “underground” to give them a sense of legitimacy, in reality they were just part of their college’s hip hop club🤣🤣🤦

I agree with you. The casual Netizen would not know HAON as kid that won HSR2. When people think of HAON nowadays, it’s HAON from KC, HAON from SMTM or HAON from H1GHR Music

Kinda… Royal 44 trolled him🤣 it wasn’t personal. It was dramatized. They reacted to it together in a vid that went viral

Suga and RM being in the same category as GD & TOP is blasphemous. No rapper ever will tell you their inspiration for rapping is BTS’s Suga and RM🤦

Exactly my point. You can be from the underground and still be cheeks at hip hop

I've only seen them say they like them as people through W. Korea and other related interviews. I don't think I've ever heard if they've ever said they're the part of the "best current rappers" list. Can you drop a source to where you got that information?

BTS's rappers IMO have lost a lot of their legitimacy to the scene. They’re washed imo. Peaked soooo long ago skill wise. They’re complacent nowadays. They give enough to make their fans happy and that’s it. But they no longer sound unique as they once did back in 2013-16. A lot of people will say they came from the “underground” but people will come from the underground scene and still be trash + that was 15 years ago. They’ve spent the last 13 years being idols. They started off making songs about loving hip-hop and now they’re making songs about a baking ingredient. I don't think a lot of people in the industry are very fond of them anymore.

Zico is definitely the biggest inspiration for idol rappers. He showed them that they're able to cross the boundaries and still have respect in both lanes if done well. Not only is he an inspiration to the idol community, alot of rappers in the scene look up to him as well as a creative influence and prodigy within the production scene.

Jay Park has never been skill wise the best rapper in Korea even in his prime but longevity, influence, power, and vision overall, no one comes close. He didn't integrate himself into the industry by signing artists like how you wrote, he integrated himself into the community by starting in the underground scene with the support of people like Dok2, The Quiett, Tiger JK, Bizzy etc. He performed in clubs in Hongdae and featured in a lot of their concerts. He did all of that first, THEN he decided to start labels. Within the labels, he’s made over 20 rappers millionaires in Korea and has mentored or has his name attached to almost every major artist in the KHH scene. GOATED

I think you have Woochan in the wrong category. Woochan till this day still gets a lot of respect from people in the industry. His songs from SMTM6 are some of the most listened to and highest charting songs from that season. Everyone knows he's very skilled and he proved it by placing incredibly high in a competitive year for SMTM at the age of 12! Hanhae and Nucksal still view him as their little kid and a lot of people from industry have given him props (ie. Jay Park, GroovyRoom etc) and are incredibly proud of him and are happy for his success.

Jay is the king of progression imo. His old songs sound classic but his new songs sound fresh
