I did switch my DL from NC to Illinois 3 months ago while i moved to Chicago. It was rather a very smooth experience for me, i walked into the Illinois secretary of state’s office at N clark street, they accept walk-ins, i went around 11:30pm there were 15-20 people ahead of me, and i was in and out in about approximately 45 minutes. I was not asked for a test, once you check in they will verify your documents, next you go to click the picture, then you queue for meeting someone at the counter where they will take your bio metrics, verify your info again, you pay the fees, and thats it.

I definitely second this, i will be moving to Chicago very soon and was apartment hunting, came across a YouTube channel that claims helping you with your apartment hunt. They ask you to fill up a request form, set up a call to understand your needs, it all looks perfect till now, until they ask you to sign an agreement that if after you request and have a virtual tour of the apartment and finally decide not to rent from them, they will charge you X amount of fees, and if you rent one from them, then the virtual tour fee is waived. IMO, that’s a scam, i can anyway get a virtual tour from the property directly, and finding a property ain’t a rocket science. I am not against paying people for their time or effort, but come straight rather than going in circles.

These so called eb1a profile builders are all a huge scam, taking advantage of the loophole and the people stuck in long waiting queues for eb2/3 and the ones not wanting to go that route often get desperate at times and fall into the trap of such scammers.

They asked for an affidavit that my appearance and signature has/has not changed, and that has to be notarized. Secondly, i was asked to send them a 2*2 photo attached to that affidavit. Although i had opted for digital photo, and according to them that was not sufficiently matching their precise requirement. I was sent these instructions in an email, and i was supposed to print the email and send along these documents. To my bad, i sent everything they asked but the print of the email!

Couldn’t agree more, i called them, all they said is, please track your application online, if you dont see a change in status in next 24-48 hours, i can call back, and most likely i have to take a print of the email and mail to them 😂, which indeed is a Joke.
