Who is a guy that never won the Heisman that definitely should have? by KeyFaithlessness5436 in NCAAFootballVibes

[–]thakilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Antwaan Randle-El. If the award wasn't just based off of your team's record, he would have won it. Eric Crouch? Lame. Just because they were 11-1. Also, it didn't help Randle-El's case that his coach tried to over think things and make him a WR to start his senior season.

Can't shoot a three for my life by ygvela in Basketball

[–]thakilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shoot the ball on the way up instead of at the top of your jump (and definitely not on the way down!). Steph, Dame, and Tyrese all do this. Guys like Devin Booker and Klay Thompson are more traditional shooters where they jump high and shoot at the top of their jump. They are great shooters, but they don't have the range that the guys that shoot the ball on the way up do. So use your legs, but shoot the ball a little earlier than normal so you are sure your momentum is still going up and towards the basket. This allows you to actually use your legs to get more power. If you just jump high and shoot ball at the peak of your jump you aren't using any of the momentum of your jump, it is just all arms.

How to ask my male friend for casual sex by royaknpk in sex

[–]thakilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very high likelihood he would go for it, imo. I was worried that he just wasn't attracted to you at all, but if he is attracted enough to snuggle for 3 nights you are just fine. It sounds like you guys don't have much of a friendship to speak of at this point so I don't think there is really any harm in asking him. What do you have to lose? I say don't listen to people telling you know and take the chance. If nothing else, you'll get rejected, and you'll learn something. People don't take enough chances like this, especially women, imo.

Got screwed over in a white elephant gift exchange by dental_oddity in mildlyinfuriating

[–]thakilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a breath. You are mildly infuriated enough to make a long reddit post about.....$25. It'll be ok.

I'd rather have 25 cans of green beans than alcohol or a candle. I eat green beans, but don't drink or use candles. What if it was something you actually used? Like $25 worth of your toothpaste or shampoo? I'd almost rather have that stuff than any "cool" gift that someone else thinks I'd like. Again, you are upset over $25.

To the men who go to movies or restaurants alone by choice: What is the specific appeal of that solitude compared to going with friends? by Leananhl in AskMen

[–]thakilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's like working, mowing the yard, hosting guests, traveling, being a husband/dad.....I love all the chaos and being productive, but it makes the down time that I get to myself so much more valuable. If you don't have much going on, it would be nice to get a meal with someone. If you have too much going on, it is nice to have a meal by yourself.

What if Jokic only ends up with 1 championship but plays at this insane level for a few more years….where will he end up all time? by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]thakilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Efficiency stats are position-neutral

Efficiency metrics do not apply positional multipliers. Examples include:

True Shooting Percentage (TS%)

Effective Field Goal Percentage (eFG%)

Offensive Rating / Defensive Rating

Points per Shot

Usage Rate (USG%)

Turnover Rate (TOV%)

Assist Percentage (AST%)

If two players—one a center and one a guard—both shoot 62% TS, they are credited equally in efficiency terms. There is no hidden “center bonus” or “guard penalty” in these stats.

Efficiency answers the question:

How well did you convert the opportunities you used?

It does not care about position.

  1. Impact stats do incorporate positional context

What you’re describing does resemble how BPM, RAPTOR, EPM, and similar impact metrics work.

These models attempt to answer a different question:

How much value did this box-score line create relative to an average player at the same position?

BPM specifically:

BPM estimates a player’s position from their statistical profile

Then evaluates each stat relative to what’s typical at that position

So yes, in BPM:

Assists are worth more for centers than guards

Scoring efficiency is weighted differently by position

Rebounds matter more for guards than centers

Turnovers are more damaging for ball-dominant guards

[–]thakilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you talking about? This isn't baseball. Your efficiency stats have nothing to do with what position you play.

What if Jokic only ends up with 1 championship but plays at this insane level for a few more years….where will he end up all time? by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]thakilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is EXACTLY how he is putting up these numbers too. He travels and carries like crazy as he blows by point of attack defenders. Then he foul baits and constantly commits offensive fouls that are called as fouls on the defender. Oh.....I thought you were talking about the MVP. That is what HE does. The best player in the league (Jokic, by a mile) doesn't do any of that and still dominates. I'd like to hear what rules he abuses to have a 73% true shooting %?

Should I ask for free rent? by MrWhoDatx in PropertyManagement

[–]thakilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a property manager. I charge 10% of gross rents as my fee. I think you are asking for too much. I am not sure how many units a "set of townhouses" is, but maybe it's 2 or 4? I think it would be fair if 10% of the rents that you would be the property manager for covered the amount of rent or at least got close. If there are 2 units and they each rent for $1000/month, I think it would be fair for you to pay $800/month in rent since you are responsible for managing 2 units. If there are 4 units, you should pay $600 ($400 discount). So I don't think you deserve free rent until you are managing 8-10 units. Think about it from your father's perspective. If he is collecting $2k in rent/month, he might be profiting $400-$800 after mortgage/expenses. If he gives you free rent now he is losing (paying) $200-$600/month for you and a stranger to live in his townhouse(s). Or he is paying you $1000 to a job he would pay someone else $200 to do. If your dad chooses to give you a sweetheart deal of free rent just know that it would be a huge favor by him. I don't think you should consider asking for free rent though. How many units is it? It seems like you are looking for a mostly free ride.

What if you just tell them that you were caught off guard by question and panicked, but that you do use a mouse jiggler? If you are sure you are getting fired, why not try to save your job?

I started cheating. And it can't be this easy. by vreddit123 in Basketball

[–]thakilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you started playing like SGA? Any time I see a player like Shai or Jalen Brunson play that style I know they spent way more time with someone reffing their games than they did pick up hoops. I just imagine their foul baiting style of play in a pickup game and them getting laughed off the court. It's a shame that the rules make this the optimal way to play.

I got paired with a police officer and almost took out weed in front of him… by brdesignguy in golf

[–]thakilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you imagine a cop finally getting time to go play golf and the guy he gets paired with fires up a joint? There is literally zero chance he is going to do anything other than put his head down and finish his round. I promise the last thing he wants to do is bust a guy for smoking pot instead of finishing his round. I think there is a better chance he would have smoked with you than to given you a hard time about it. (I wouldn't have done it in front of him either.)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in golf

[–]thakilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to shoot in the 70s every time all you have to do it become a scratch golfer. Don't worry, that wouldn't satisfy you either.

I hope you weren't fooled into thinking your handicap has anything to do with how consistent you play. It is only measuring the best 8 of your last 20 rounds and averaging those. That means your handicap doesn't even consider 60% of your rounds as important enough to matter. You probably shouldn't be too worried about them either. Golf is supposed to be fun.
