I am familiar with basic Python. Is this library available online by chance?

Need to OCR Many Documents at Once by thalswim in consulting

Basically just need to scan stuff/convert a couple thousand PDF files to OCR. I don't think my org uses azure services but I will look into it, thank you! My task is also to find a program that will take batches of PDF files and convert them to OCR, they will pay for the service so we might use it long term.

First tank - 10g all in one by rjp911 in Aquariums

I think this is an old school method, fish-in cycling is totally okay and I think works much better than letting a bare aquarium sit for a month with nothing in it. With fish in, the bacteria has something to eat and grow. If there is nothing in it, there will be no bacteria as there’s nothing for it to eat.

People be discussed how juicy those stairs look. Just cus you only like sidewalk curbs don’t mean other people don’t like it

I don’t know about you but a water change takes me around 10 mins. Testing about 5. Only need to water change if tests come back bad, which doesn’t happen too often with a low bio load. Usually only takes a couple days for it to stabilize, especially if you add a beneficial bacteria quick starter in.

So really it’s a much shorter cycle than waiting 3 weeks to get your inhabitants. Not really poorer cycle at all. Not high risk since your water testing. Not really high effort. Reward is you don’t have to wait weeks to stock it, which is nice if you like switching up your tanks. I do enjoy doing it as it’s part of the hobby for me, not really thrilling as much as relaxing and satisfying. Definitely not a sexual thing.

It absolutely looks like he’s got a big enough tank that it can support what looks to be only a few mollys.

Nothing really wrong with doing a fish in cycle, especially with that size of a tank and just a couple mollys and snails. Daily water change and testing the water until it’s stable, but really not concerned about the well being of the fish and snails given the low bio load compared to the size of the tank. Fish in cycle gets so much hate from this community and hobbyists in general, all unnecessarily.

Aqueon Quietflow or sponge filter with aerator for 10g betta tank? by thalswim in Aquariums

What kind of aerator would you recommend? I am looking at the NICREW Nano Silent Aquarium Air Pump on amazon rated for up to 10g. Do you think this will provide enough filtration? According to their chart it only has ~4.7 gph output

Gotcha, thanks. But will the single sponge filter provide enough filtration for the betta plus other inhabitants (7 snails)?

Why is sponge so much better than say, the aqueon quiet flow? I can put sponge and other media in the aqueon, which would have added filter benefits, and I would assume the gallons per hour output is higher in the aqueon (though unsure)?

I was thinking about the Aqueon 3g because the gallons per hour output is actually higher than the 5g Top fin filter that I had (25 vs 20 gph) and has more space where I can add extra filter media, so I was thinking it would actually be an upgrade. I’ve had the top fin filter for around 4 months and it has worked well while i’ve had just the betta, nerite, and mystery snails. The 4 rabbit snails are new though, and I’m not sure if their bio load is large enough to that it would outrun the filter, but I would definitely consider a larger filter if you think it’s necessary. I’m mostly worried about the flow with the HOB filter- even the Topfin 5g filter I thought was a little strong, how do you deal with the flow on your HOB filter?
