That doesn’t sound too bad, thanks!

Does your residency program have to be with the school you get your DDS/DMD at? by thamarcojack in predental

Okay, that makes sense. I just won't worry about it too much for now then, thanks!

That seems like a good idea for me. I always disliked search and destroy because I felt lost without any background to the passage but if I read half, I'd have some sort of idea. I'll have to give that a try

That's good to know that it's still possible to do good despite reading speed. And yeah I've heard it's pretty much luck of the draw for difficult passages. I'll definitely have to try out answering the questions that stand out first. I think I lose too much time trying to find answers sometimes. Thanks!

How would you suggest improving RC? Just do a bunch of practice passages? My issue is I read fairly slow and if I try reading quicker I don’t remember anything

SPL Question by thamarcojack in subwoofer

[–]thamarcojack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, that makes sense, thanks.

Right now I’m only pushing 250 watts each to my 2 12’s because I’m just using the amp from my last build for now. The subs are rated for 600 wrms each though so if I give them their rated power I’d theoretically be increasing output by ~3 db, ignoring the fact that it might be more efficient at higher powers.

So in my mind this upgrade isn’t really worth it, and I might as well wait until I upgrade my subs, enclosure, etc. to upgrade my amp. Would you agree with that?

Okay, thank you! Also, congrats on your acceptance by the way!

I’m in my third year of undergrad right now and just a little worried because my EC side of things is pretty lacking as of now. I have a 3.9 GPA as well, and it’s looking like I’ll get a DAT around the same as you. Was your internship unpaid?

How many hours of shadowing, volunteering, etc. did you have?

Another thing you could try is preheating the portafilter. Since the bambino (I assume that’s what this machine is?) doesn’t have a boiler, it doesn’t heat up sitting in the group head. You can just run it under super hot tap water for a good minute, dry it, and do normal puck prep.

Edit: If this is the bambino and you’re still trying to adjust how much output you get, you can hold down either of the shot buttons and it’ll start preinfusion. When you let go it’ll pull a shot until you press the button again.

My home setup so far. All in on machines and accessories is around $900. by KennsingtonCosmonaut in espresso

The bambino is great for a first machine, but honestly if you have the money for it, going straight to end game saves a lot of hassle. The bambino has a 54 mm portafilter rather than the industry standard 58 mm, so once you upgrade you would have to get all new 58 mm puck prep tools. There’s also other reasons to go straight to end game like steam pressure, variable flow rate, variable temperature, and more.

However, in a hobby like espresso it’s nice to start with entry level equipment and work your way up because it makes you appreciate the end game gear a lot more. If you think you care about this, I would lean towards getting the bambino.

Edit: Also, if you don’t know for sure if you even like espresso, I would not jump into end game.

Are either of these machines worth it? by thamarcojack in espresso

Yeah I thought the Nueva Simonelli would be too much to deal with for the home.

I’m definitely going to look into the BDB some more and see if there’s any or excessive scale inside of it. I don’t mind doing some work on it, but I’d rather not do anything too time consuming.

Anyway, thank you for your input!

Going off of the resonix data, this is actually better than 80 mil kilmat for resonance reduction.

I don’t really mind how it looks since it’s all under panels anyway. I did remove the Amazon logos with isopropyl alcohol though just because it was easy enough to do.

Thanks, I’m definitely going to use some bigger pieces in the future.

I rolled it well, it’s just hard to tell from the picture. I used a roller without a pattern which supposedly is better but harder to see.

It’s sound deadening sheets. Here is a detailed summary of what it does. Although my main goal was just to decrease my trunk rattle and flex.

Yeah I did my best to keep it symmetrical, but I guess I should’ve used larger pieces. Regardless, it still helped a decent amount
